Cot recommendations

    I have a 4 month old boy and he currently sleeps in the Tutti Bambini co-sleeper. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cot? I know nothing about cots and what to look for. I'll probably have it in our room which isn't huge so a smaller cot would be useful. Also, I'm not sure when I'll need to transition him from the co-sleeper to the cot... thanks!

    Cot-beds are bigger, but the sides come off and they turn into toddler beds down the line. If you want something smaller, you want a standard cot. I have 3 cot beds and one smaller cot (2 in my house and two in my mothers). One is ikea, one from Argos, one from mothercare (I think, I got it from my SIL) and one I bought on adverts.ie. Honestly, it makes little odds, they’re all the same. If you can buy second hand do.
    Obviously, buy a new mattress, and I would buy a sprung one, not foam, there’s better support in them

    we got a good quality standard cot for our first it was a decent size.
    it lasted us perfectly for 3 kids and 9 years. when the last was finished we passed it on and it is going strong and will for a long time yet.


    when the first was getting too big for it i was sorry we had not got a cot bed, but then his younger sister went into it 6 months later, so if we had bought a cot bed we would then have had to buy another cot for her.


    so id say buy something big and sturdy as opposed to small and pretty, if you plan on having more than one. our first fella actually chewed it, much like a puppy might, i would blame consuming the varnish on him being so mental if it wasn't for the fact he was mental enough to eat the varnish in the first place.

    Cosleeper -> small cot in our room -> cot bed in own room

    And it does the job perfectly. Got it second hand and bought a new mattress

    We actually hacked it to sidecar onto our bed as we were very short of space and it was easier that way, it was very easy to do
