High street shops in Dundalk

Hi all, Is there a reason for the lack of high street shops in the centre of town? I understand the marshes is pretty good for shops but surely the centre of town would benefit with some high street shopping? Im new to Dundalk so not really sure what the situation is here.

You've pretty much answered your own question. The answer is the same in every irish town. The Marshes (or their local equivalent)
