6k for insurance 20 years ago !!!. Did you crash a jumbo ?:)

Mine was 6,500 to be a named driver on a absolute highly powered primera 1.6......

Ugh had to go with a lime green import Micra and it was 3,500 full licence.

It was almost 20 years ago when I was a boy and insurance was around 6k! I went from that to a motorbike and my insurance dropped to around 1400...which makes a lot of sense...

Mine was £957 20 years ago, named driver as was the fashion.

€3,200 my own policy on a 1.3 Colt 15 years ago

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,308 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

Mine was a bit over €3,500 on a 1.3 Civic.

I loved the way the boot opened on them. Glass went up while the bottom part folded down.

2005 mine was 3500 on a 94 1.3xli corolla van.It was either a van or a Micra .My god I loved and actually miss the car.
Ran it for two years doing 3-400 miles a week and nothing went wrong went downhill with most cars since.

A bangernomics favourite, 05 1.8t A4 avant with NCT til October and tax til May, €850

Photos taken in a churchyard so it must be good, right?

The name “Seller” and 9 other cars for sale in different locations also inspires confidence

The deliberate listing of the miles as kilometers is another certainty: bonus points for understating the current mileage to *less* than it was last October.

Not that it would bother me, for the money it is what it is and you need to judge it in person.

Is it just me, or does that particular church yard crop up VERY often??

2011 Fluence with NCT til June 2021, €1900

A respectable car for the money

1 owner 1.8t 9-3 with an alleged 32k miles and FSH, NCT til October and tax til July, €1750

    This looks really nice

Looks like a fresh example alright, although I really struggle to see how the drivers seat has only seen 32k. Interesting one, because apart from mileage and tax on it, it's way over-priced. We bought our 2007 one in April last year for under a grand, with a brand new 15 month NCT, and it was a MY08 version with facelift and newer interior

Yeah seat is in a shocking state

I'd say it just had an overweight or immobile owner. The rest of the car looks very tidy in fairness to it, I'd say the mileage is legit.

What's the automatic like on them?

Another decent looking Fluence, 2011 this time with a years test. €1950

    I'll stop posting these now!

    Getting very cheap them Renault's

Yeah, those and Megane IIIs. Both very decent upper budget bangernomics options IMO.

I'm glad this is on the wrong side of the country

That's how much it cost a 17 year old with no experience at the time...and I needed a car.

Sure 19 years ago it was £4800 for a 17yo on a first provisional for a 1998 1.2 Punto with Quinn.

    Madness.

I kept to the bus for a while longer.

2.2 Brera with a risky 3 months test, and tax til May - €1500

Details are scant, cool car for the money if it checks out okay

A bare foot climb of croagh Patrick would seem like a luxury Spa weekend after driving that for a week. ;-)

    TD avensis
    Looks clean and well minded
Tested till the end May and a few days tax left.
    Asking 500

It could actually be worth more than 500 for export, they hit 650 with some crowds a month or two ago but the coronavirus might have stalled things.

The hubcaps are worth at least €40 too cos they are legends of the agri scene nearly on par with the fabled 5x100 tsw stealth.

Either way a man would do well lose out buying this if a simple and economical runabout was the order of the day.

Was looking at that this morning, a nice looking example

In other bangernomics news I’ve just picked up another Yaris from another convent. 02 with 60k, full tank etc. Am I wasting my time with these or what?

Would anyone here have any use for it?
