What has happened to our Rock solid defense since the mid season break??

I just hope we don't limp over the line to win the league now.

Genuinely one of the best performances from us all season.. individual error costing us. Hurts deep that one.

At least the performance was something to be proud of, haven't played at that level since Leicester in December.

Let's go smash the league and make it a season to remember

    A tale of two keepers

That's it in a nutshell for me.

Played well. Would have seen that out with Alisson. Elite goalkeepers are rare and vital at the top end.

For all of the mistake by Adrian ... the forwards fluffed a boatload of chances too (albeit Oblak had a cracking game). We had enough chances to put that game to bed without having to worry about a breakaway goal.

Wow we had that game in the bag. AM were a well beaten side.

Adrian robbed his team mates of a place in the quarters. Awkward dressing room now I'd say.

Had it in the bag

The importance of a really good keeper shown again. Thank God for Allison. Adrian is mignolet/karius standard of not good enough.

Yeah it was a Karius display. We were brilliant until that first goal. A club like Liverpool should never ever be signing a back up goalkeeper who has been released.
He did really well in the Mickey Mouse cups but that was the real deal....and a big fail.
So down but.... Liverpool with Becker never lose that game.

I'll be honest and say the CL this year was only a bonus, the grail has been reached this year and thats all that matters.

Until Hendo dances his little legs off, I won’t believe that!

****ing deflated by that, second game in a row I’m commending Adrian for his Karius-esque performance!

I'm ashamed of any fan who could be genuinely ashamed of that performance.

Whatever let's see how you feel tomorrow.

Probably a worse result than the Watford one as we had a hat of chances, then went ahead....after the Adrian mistake anything & everything went wrong. I know Atletico are nowhere near as strong as they were in the past which makes it all the more baffling.

    Gutted. Deserved a result tonight.
It's a pity we've no backup keeper. Caomhin, Adrian et al are just not Al!

    Adrian couldn't catch Coronavirus .

If we were only 12 points clear in the league I would be very worried now

A back up keeper will never be at Allison level. You're not going to have a 70 million keeper on the bench (unless your Chelsea!)

Who can you get as a back up to Allison that is decent, who knows they will never play the big games bar injury, and is happy to waste their career on the bench?

Goalkeeping errors ultimately cost us in the end, but we had so many chances to kill that game off in normal time that it's a bit frustrating that the goalkeeping mistake was even a factor. :(

Defence not to blame tonight it was the keeper.

How do you think they'd limp over the line for the league with a 25 point lead and a maximum 2 wins required?

Tough result on the lads who put in a superb 90 minutes but if you don't put your chances away this can happen.

Atletico are tough to watch when you are playing against them but you have to respect their never say die attitude.

We did this to a couple of teams in 2005 also, the best team in Europe doesn't always win the Champions League.

We have the Summer to bask in the glory of a long awaited league title and the hurt of this loss will hopefully keep the players motivated for next season.

Nobody's asking for that, I think its fair to ask for a somewhat competent level of goalkeeping though? We are out of the FA cup and Europe essentially because of Adrian.

They've just got to fillet out the good bits of that performance - a much more dynamic midfield, the crossing was much crisper. More energy loads of shots at goal. Pickford ain't no Oblak.

34 Shots with only 11 on target. 72% possession.

AM 10 shots, 6 on target and 3 goals. 28% possession.

It was just as much as our finishing as well as our poor defending

That pass through to morata..Ali would have been out doing Keepy uppies before he got close to the ball..

Said to.myself ..keeper has this easy.. forgetting..and he's there stuck on his line.

Disastrous game from him, first goal gave them all they needed..we battered them up to then.

Juventus have announced that Italy centre-back Daniele Rugani has tested positive for coronavirus. How they play Lyon next week is beyond me. The whole team needs isolation, so could be worst.

I'm pretty happy that we actually played well.
But we need some new blood in the summer.
    Origi must go for starters.

For the most part you'd have to be happy with that performance. More energy, bite, crisper passing, better movement. Let down by an error and then tiredness both mental and physical kicked in. Definitely our best performance since before the first leg.

OK good point but not a player who has been released by a club who is low in the league every year. Liverpool have scouts.
Ah look no blame, it was a risk that has paid off until now. You won't see Adrian at the club next season. That will tell you everything you need to know

We're about to win the league, lads. Things will work out.

Surely that has to be postponed?

Very disappointing result following an outstanding performance after 90 mins.

Clubs needs to pay good money to a number 2 to sit on his arse every week. All the other top clubs do.

Lack of game changers from the bench also, but all in all we are damn unlucky. Poor Alisson misses a couple of weeks and we go out of both cups.
