I'm getting flashbacks to tuning into TOTP around this time in 1989 and spending the rest of the show gradually realising I had missed Wendy James and whatever her band was called

Marty Whelan used to play Americanos all the time on late night 2FM, before he made his ill fated move to Century.

I expect David Bowie will wander into this Midnight Oil video from the pub in Let's Dance.

    I wouldn't kiss Bruce Springsteen,
    Jackson Brown or Leonard Cohen
But I know someone who'd love to shift the drummer in Status Quo,
and I wouldn't drop the lámh on Bono
There'd be far too many legal wrangles
But Jesus Christ Almighty, I'd love to touch the Bangles

The video where he plays guitar with gloves on?

    Bleedin waffler.

    Makes me bloody sick.

In a song that features both Nile Rodgers and Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar, there's Dave pretending it's him.

    Thin white chancer, more like.

More like following 80s music video convention than being a chancer. He was a lot of things, not all of them good, but 'chancer' wasn't one of them.

Can’t help but feel Our Cilla was riding on the moptops coattails somewhat.

So far, she’s covered ‘Norwegian Wood’, ‘Imagine’ and ‘If I Fell’!
