City have United away and Chelsea at home in that time so they could drop a couple of points

Hopefully but still I wouldn't mind waiting till villa at home and the Easter bank holiday after

I'd be surprised if we don't lose another two or three. The hard work is done, it's just about games running out now and picking up some more points. CL is the big game.

If Liverpool win there next 3 will a draw be good enough at City to win it?

Need to be out of the cup for that

Next home game against Bournemouth is the biggest game of the season, Have to make sure today is a blip and not let it make the team nervy,
    3points is a must v Bournemouth

It's not though. It's about as far away from the most important game of the season and 3 points definitely isn't a must.

On today's game would anyone have been tempted if they where in charge to throw Jones on instead of Lallana at 2-0, Nothing to lose and the lads got a goal in him

You are kinda admitting you've given up then....prefer to see him come on when we would be 2 or 3 up.

Anyone who thinks the treble is on should disabuse themselves of that idea right now. Getting past Atletico is unlikely unless there is a significant upswing in performance levels. The FA Cup could go either way, so much depends on whether Klopp takes it seriously. The good news is Chelsea are in a much less comfortable position so might not go all out against Liverpool. As for the league a win and a good win is vital V Bournemouth get back on the horse pronto and restore confidence.

Jones would have been worth a punt as unknown quantity, the game was 95% gone at 2-0.

Chelsea & Atletico. Can't afford to lose two games on the spin now heading into the Atletico game, if we lose to City in the league it doesn't even matter as they aren't catching us & the undefeated run is over now anyway. The thought of going out of both cups in the space of a week would make the rest of the season feel very quiet. It's not like Chelsea are in great form or Atletico are likely to win the CL either.

I want an intense performance even if we lose it. A dress rehearsal for second leg. They'll sit back of course but they're a team who like to play out from the back when in possession.

Our midfield press has gone to **** lately. A Milner or Hendo in there helps but it's been poor lately anyway. The FBs are especially bad at it; running at the winger from miles off and getting played around easily. We'd be better off going into a low block instead ourselves.

Actually think that fabinho was at fault for their first goal today. Lovren has deeney tied down from the throw....and the run is made of the back of fab. Everyone ball watching except Doucoure. He's the only one that reads or takes a chance on the throw. Fab and VVD guilty of being too casual and robbo caught on the hop.
Bound to get beaten at some stage....let's move on and whopp Bournemouth next week.

In fairness to Lallana he came closer to goal than anyone else on the team.

It's a great defeat, takes the pressure off now. Win the league and then we can play some kids in remaining games, doesn't matter then if we lose another 8 as long as league is done.
Had we remained undefeated we'd have been stressed until the last day trying to remained undefeated. Win the league and then get Jones and Elliot , Minamino and Williams in the team, CL is the goal now for the first team.

I agree with Toby. It's a weight off our shoulders and nothing to freak out about. It's disappointing, sure, but **** it, still the best team in England.

Why are you reacting to something that hasn't happened?

Galling, nonetheless. Watford conceded three against Aston Villa!! That shows how poor they are.I think Klopp will be very disappointed indeed. It would have been quite an achievement to finish an entire campaign unbeaten, without precedent since the Premier League came into existence.

If we lose against Bournemouth, I'll probably go into full-on panic mode.

The importance of Henderson cannot be understated. He was sent off in the final minutes when we beat City 3-2 in the Rodgers title challenge season and he was badly missed for the run in. There is now way we would have lost with him on the pitch yesterday.

If anyone is feeling a little bit down after yesterday just remember we are going to finally win the league and thats all that matters. Think back to the start of the season and what you hoped for. Think back to all the heartache over the years. Invincible season, highest points total, best season ever etc it doesnt matter. The only thing that matters is the thing that is going to happen.

Had a look at the whoscored ratings as I generally look to them for an objective view.

It's interesting - TAA gets a very low mark, and VVD is slightly lower than Lovern. Trent's defending has been very poor lately. As great as VVD is, he does have the odd game where's his focus is not there. I think Lovern being Lovern (and not match sharp) didn't help things but I think it's a mix of a few factors:
    • The team being mentally tired from the intensity of the season so far
    • Missing Hendo and Milner's leadership in the middle
    • Mane coming back from injury and not looking 100%
    • Fabinho not looking like the player he was pre injury
    • Teams figuring out how Liverpool play and adopting to it

Champions League is main priority but I really want the FA Cup as well. We haven't won it in ages and 2006 and 2001 were memorable.

There was a time last year after the Barca loss, and City beating Leicester, it looked like the season would end on a damp note with nothing to show for it. This group of players didn't let that happen, and I don't think they will this season either.
