Precisely, the public housing built in the 'halcyon days' of the 1950s/ 60s/ 70s was extremely basic in terms of construction - well built usually but very basic four walls, a few single glazed windows, a front door, single bathroom, no central heating, little or no insulation, minimal wiring and estates with little in the way of schools and shops.

they would sooner get themselves photographed sleeping at a garda station rather than move into a basic house/apartment.

He's going to leave the country if the Shinners get in, in the same way that Ray D'arcy was going to leave the country if Enda became Taoiseach.

He might bring Darcy with him after enda got in ;)

At least if you're on a trolley in an Irish hospital, you won't lose your house afterwards when the bill comes in.

"are you in a bed or on a trolley?"

    "a bed"

can hear the disappointment in Joe's voice when she says that

my mam was on a trolley for a few days recently, not ideal, but there was not much difference to when she was put into a public ward.

The private health insurance did not make much of a difference

My parents bought a house in 1986 for 55k. It was recently valued at ten times that.
