    Hi,

    Sorry, I've got another question.

What's the first thing to do when relocating related to electrical and gas bill?

Do we need to provide to ESB the MPRN/GPRN number plus current number? Do they start "charging" us from the day we ask them to do it?

    Thanks

Yes. Ring your chosen supplier. Have a meter reading (preferably a photo of the meters in case you need the meter serial numbers) to hand. You don’t absolutely need the MPRN and GPRN. If you have the address and the meter serial numbers they will find it.

ESB’s electricity and gas supplier arm is called electric ireland.

Will they start charging since the day we tell them to do?

What if there is any debt from the previous owner?

    Thanks

They will start changing from when you are registered as the occupier, yes. The debt is for the previous occupier to deal with.

If there are prepay meters it might be a bit more complicated in practice but the principle is the same.
