    How much does it cost?

Family Law - simple enough and pre drafted

A solicitor is unlikely to send a pre-drafted letter. You generally don't pay a solicitor to send a letter you pay them to deal with a matter. Lets say here once they send a letter on your behalf then documents could be served on them as your solicitor etc, any responses would go to them. Its not as straightforward s them just sending a letter.

To send a letter, you have to become a client so the solicitor has to go through money laundering and fee estimate procedures before taking an attendance on the subject matter of the letter. There will be several hours work involved. Solicitors don't allow their headed paper to be used for someone else's letter.
I would think you might get a small operator to do it for less than 1k. Bigger/posher ones would want a lot more.
