No ISDN for Andy

Well, after a week of ****ing around Eircom eventually gave me a staight answer today as to why they havent installed my line yet.

It seems that a few months ago when they were meant to be putting 2 new phone lines in my house they took the cheap way out and split my one line into 3 logical lines.

Now they need to reroute one of these lines to be able to upgrade the other 2.

However there is no way they can do this with the current system and will have to lay a whole new set of cables in my area to get it done.

What do you think the chances of that happening are?

The moral of the story is that I aint getting ISDN any time soon and so wont be going for the team3.ie Net team or the CTF team.

Listen, I assume you have 2 existing phone lines in the house?
How about dropping one of the "logical" ones and just upgrading them all to isdn? Then you'd have the two ISDN liens only.
They wouldn't need to lay another physical line then. Just a thought

Yeah, but it'll all have to be on LAN from here on in (and the odd game at phils house).

On the plus side my exams end tommorow so expect me to be bugging you for LANs as of this weekend.

Woody - thats what we were trying to do and Eircom are refuseing. They say that the only way to get the 3rd line is to give it a new connection by itself. and as the box at the end of my street is completely full they will have to lay a whole new line to do it.

The engineer said they had been planning the new line since last summer but still no sign of it actually happening.

Ok lans then from now on but, have you inquired about cable in your area. might be an alternative andy. I know some areas are almost ready to go now.

I got rid of my analogue line and just got the isdn, I only use the single channel anyway and the other one is for the phone. Do you need 3 lines?

), just remember to bring you own key board. I have asked bout cable in Leixlip from ntl and they said the work they are doing is only laying down the duckeding for the backbone, they wont be laying that till then end of the year.and from what i have heard over on the tech boards is that they are not pulling out, they are in the middle of and aduit and are holding the lay down , till its over.

Yeah Eric, one line is the house phone number and the other 2 are business lines.

Sutty - I dont think you realise just how much time I was planning on spending playing once I got my line. I think you would get pretty sick of kicking me out of your house at 3 in the morning...

I dont see that as a problem Andy. Just swap parents with Sutty. You live in his old house and play on the isdn, and he can live in your house and play on the modem.
