Court report?

I recall reading of a court case about 10 years ago in the local newspaper. I now have a need to find information on that case but am unsure if this is possible. I've tried Google but having no success. Is this kind of information available, given in was in the public domain? If so, how can I access it?

Newspaper archives / library copies. The courts won't have a record of what was written by a journo and if its local newspaper level its probably District Court so no written judgements.
