Delete this thread and start a new including Dylan Moran in your poll. How in god's name did you forget him.

I had to google Dylan Moran because if he was sat next to me on a plane it would have gone unnoticed, who is he, is he famous?

    Yes.

Tommy Tiernan. He's not as funny these days, but he was quite the funny man back in the day.

    Dylan Moran.

Kevin McAleer was brilliantly dry. Don't know he is nowadays.

He was the uncle in Derry Girls last year.

Dylan Moran is funnier than Dave Allen but Allen was first so it's between those two.

    Please restart poll,

I saw Kevin McAleer in the Olympia years ago. It was basically a slide show with him commenting on each picture, and is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The problem was that he never really moved on and he was a bit of a one joke comedian, which was a shame because there was a lot of potential there.

He is from the island of Ireland ‘and there’s more’ Jimmy Cricket

Dermot Morgan's stand up was poor and his acting was ropey. First few episodes of fr Ted, he just about kept you in it. He did improve as it went on. The writing was the star, really.

Dave Allen was a class act. His skit on starting school in rathfarmham is a favourite.

Point taken. I just thought of the first 10 or so off the top of my head. He should definitely be there.
Just as well I included an "other please specify" option. :)

Also think Kevin McAleer and Sharon Horgan were grave omissions.

Some of the names on the poll are, ironically, laughable.

    Left out Spike Milligan.

He's a funny fúcking man, if you ignore the 'shouting' and listen to the stories he's telling, whereas Jason Byrne....

Actually I find him weak. I think he is a poor version or he is trying to be an Irish Billy Connolly.

But give him his dues he was funny in the Derry Girls.

It's funny  But stuff you didn't rate when younger and you revisit it years later you actually find it's more appealing.

Father Ted for me first time around I thought was crap. But now I love watching it.

Some of the old stuff which you could never watch on tv nowadays is killer stuff when you find it on Youtube. Not all Irish though.

I don't know about ever, but Chris Tordoff's streams and his characters like Francis Higgins, Conor Williams and Tommy Shlug consistently have me laughing.

He used to be funny, no doubt about that. But that was a long, long time ago.

He takes himself very seriously now and has a massive opinion of his own depth of intelligence which is actually very shallow.

Jesus lad he said comedian...those pair are about as far removed from that description as I am.

Big shout for Dylan Moran. Honorable mention to Ardal O'Hanlon and David O'Doherty.

    Dylan Moran

I'm not a big fan of his stand-up but I thought this scene in The Actors is one of the funniest things on film.
