Will we see a repeat of 2018 but with Nathan Aspinall in Rob crosses place ???. A slow start for MVG and you never know. Aspinall is a great player

Price vs Wright is an interesting one and hard to call as both can be hot and cold on there day

MVG vs Price final I'm thinking but would not be surprised if it's a different pairing

2 bad games , duzza struggles again the top guys on long format

I actually like Price. He boils the piss out of all the brainless drunks in the crowd.

I'd take anybody winning out bar MVG though.

if wright brings hes 104 average he will be tough to beat and at 6/1 bit of value.

Don’t get the hate for Price myself. Arrogant? Yes. Over exuberant celebrations? Yes. So what?
No different to the celebrations of MvG or Aspinall among others. He comes across as a sound lad in interviews.

Really don’t think he can handle the pressure well enough and can’t see him winning it

Wonder did Price hear Wright’s interview where he said Durrant would beat him easily

yes, price referenced it in his post match interview, and basically said they were good friends and was just trying to get in his head

Middle of the 8th set of one of the matches of the tournament and the crowd are chanting Yaya/Kolo Toure. Christ almighty

Outlandish.. As well as that incessant "Stand up if you love the darts", while the players are on throw. I'd say even Jackie the Belgian would disapprove (If he's still alive that is).
For all that the BDO is/was amateurish it didn't need the circus to draw in the crowds and the viewing figures back in its heyday as well as the drama.
Times change though and darts now is like a night at a WWF match. Shame really.

I think Durrant himself realised himself that the recent BDO titles aren’t on par with the PDC.

I like him, seems a decent guy that has made the most of his talent by working really hard.

For me he’s definitely a top 10 player now and I hope he makes it into the Premier Exhibition (not that I’ll watch any of it)

    TbL

For me he is John Part 2.0, a solid 95.0 averager, with no gears. Out score him and finish with 40% checkouts, you'll win handy. Have a bad day, and he "Duzz" you.

Another slight rise in the 180 rate after the QF's, having finally got the day I (we?) wanted. 900 is still a no goer for me; breaking even is very much on the table.

Now only down 3 on last year (based on the 798 vs 801 at the same point in the competition).

As it currently stands; with the 180 rate at 1.8689 180's per set played:

If all matches from here end up 3-0 legs and X - 0 Sets we have:
19 sets left; returning a tournament total of 446 Sets and 834 180's.

If all matches from here end up 3-2 legs and go the distance (excluding tie-breaks) we have:
35 sets left; returning a tournament total of 469 Sets and 863 180's.

Mid point of the extremes has us at:
27 sets left; returning a tournament total of 454 Sets and 848 180's.

Sportingindex: middling the market at 868.5 (Sell 864.5; Buy 872.5).

The record for a final is 42, if equaled that would take the total to 839, which would mean needing 62 from the two semi's, I'll hope and pray but cannot see 900 getting over the line.

I will graciously concede yet another year. Roll on 2021!

Next updates will be after the SF's.

    He's gone pretty quiet

Really thought he would get a punditry gig with Sky

I doubt he has many admirers there tbh. Very disrespectful in interviews, cutting off and talking over people.

The rumours I've heard is he is on 5k a night for an exhibition, I could not prove this one way or another, but was told by more than one person who organises such events.

You could rattle out 2/3 of them a week in the UK, not withstanding the rest of the world. Not sure Sky would want/need to pay the readies he'd probably ask for.

I don't doubt that figure I just would love to know who'd fork out 5k for that miserable so and so, legendary status aside.

Seen lads with sponsor cards of 200/300+ to play the likes of Thornton, Bunting & Evans in recent years, 20 of them lined up and all.

16 time World champ, would come with a premium, (which I wouldnt think the charity is getting). Again I do not know the ins and outs of the set-ups, so will bow to those who know better in this thread. I know a few have taken part or even organised a night or two.

Not doubting anyone at all, but would love to know the finances behind paying PT £5K for an exhibition.
Presumably whoever does it is planning on making money, so is hoping to take in say £10K. So that's 500 people paying £20 (or 1000 paying £10) to watch Taylor throw a few hours of non-competitive darts. Where's all this taking place, is it in the old traditional working men's clubs, or more middle-class establishments.
Is there really a market to do this a couple of times a week all year, or are they the odd one-off event?

Hotels banquet rooms would host a few of these events

Usually a few players under the same management would do events like these together

A bar close-ish to me hosted Taylor not long after retirement. Think 5k is accurate from what i was told. I think the bar was really only trying to cover his cost through the cover charge and make its money through drink/food.

Would imagine it'd be similar for most crowds who'd book him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,717 ✭✭✭bassy

the don,t do anything for charity/sick causes the only turn up and the people involved hope to draw a crowd for the cause.there only there for the money and that's a fact.ah ok a raffle for there shirt oh how kind hearted.

Taylor will never get on, TV he's hideous even by darts standards

I wonder if Taylor regrets retiring. A lot of the big hitters from a couple of years ago have fallen away a bit.

Very good point. This particular event anyway would be absolutely tailor-made (I know I know) for a Taylor win, given everyone is so up and down and the likes of Lewis and Anderson are a shadow of their former selves

That said he does appear to be making a lot from exhibitions and I suppose he's pushing on now, its taxing to be doing the whole tour

With regard to punditry, I know he's making plenty from exhibitions but it'd be some awful handy work for him for a few weeks here and there during the year. As someone pointed out though I'd doubt there's any love lost between himself and a few of the existing pundits. I definitely recall spats with Rod Studd and Wayne Mardle at the very least

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,891 ✭✭✭irishgeo

I know its been said many times, but that Mardle would give you ire on your hole.

It's a pity we can't do like in the old GAA days - turn down the sound on the TV and turn up O'Muircheartaigh on the wireless.

    Its possible.

Talksport 2 have live comms of the darts. I being listening via tunein radio.

Syncing it to the sky feed could be the issue.

You could always pause the sky feed until it catches up.

I was watching a stream on Twitch last night and some kind person had set it up like that - looked like a German or Dutch channel with the talksport commentary
Sync wasn't perfect but good enough
