    Items linked to are shipped from China so can probably be got even cheaper from Aliexpress. As to why it's cheaper to get stuff shipped from China than say Ireland international postal rates are set every four years by the Universal Postal Union. Trump is threatening to pull the US out because current rates unfairly benefit China. There's a good podcast about it from the excellent Planet Money.
