Donal Conway stepping down at the EGM in January.

That's a start and hopefully all the others ***** to follow .

    Not soon enough.

A €3M bonus was due to Delaney in 2021 for running the association in to the ground?

Every c**t who was responsible for giving him that contract should be barred from any involvement in Irish football at every level for the rest of their lives.

Maybe they'll have a whip around for JD in any event 'cause he's such a great fella?

Total debt at the FAI stands at €55 million.

    John Delaney in July 2018:
"We owe €29.5 million to our banking partner. Next year it will be less than 20 and if we choose to make it debt-free by 2020 that will be the case. That's the message for today."

Fair enough but the way he presented those shocking figures was a joke.

I assume that is an end of year figure for 2018 per accounts and not what they actually owe? Given that they're relying on UEFA support this year I assume it will be higher at the end of 2019

No that would be the situation as of now. No point giving a debt figure as of 12 months ago given the last 12 months are catastrophic.

This exact quote was used by some who defended Delaney too before it all hit the fan.

Surely Gardai will be all over this?

    FAI are ****ed .

Deloitte cant even fully stand over the report as there are numerous files/paper work missing.

The FAI can’t really go out of business as without them we can’t even enter UEFA or FIFA competition and that won’t be allowed to happen. That would be a vote loser for the government so they won’t allow it to happen.

I’d predict they’ll just slash and burn the Staff, suspend all capital works grants and enter survival mode. We’ll have a footballing body on a par with Moldova or Albania for a decade, maybe two.

If it was me or you, we'd be have been sacked for continuously doing a poor job and/or gross misconduct and possibly even fraud.

You are around long enough to know the FAI do not operate like a normal organisation!

The Sport Ireland report was sent on to them already

They are really going to be ****ed next year . Revenue are next up looking for tax due on the creative accounting.

I wonder if John could loan them more money?

That was rank amateur he started off couldn't use powerpoint and said he is always late, no wonder staff morale in FAI is shot to pieces. The board of directors never questioned financial status and just kept taking their cut.

Not sure who the youth football guy was that was questioned shortly about coming back to board however he was totally out of his depth.

They better have get good independent directors and everyone previously associated with this should be out by end of Jan no excuses.

Delaney getting paid off after leaving the ship in this state is a complete and utter disgrace.

Is there any way that 500k can be recovered?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,455 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

That would have been actually funny if I wasn’t already blind with rage.

Can we assume that John Delaney is in big trouble with the Gardai? That’s the impression I’m getting as the lads are still scared of their lives to mention him at all.

Watching Conway squirm as he tried to explain how Delaney’s pension was signed off by the board would make your blood boil.

    What was the payoff?
Pensions are near impossible to not pay out in this country, I've a feeling most of the pay off was pension contributions.

I wonder can there be criminal proceedings brought against all you covered up now or is that a waste of time ?

I cant see how they cannot be liquidated.....
write down debts, sell off whatever capital assets they have.
Another organisation would then be established in their stead with similar articles of agreement.

if they dont do this, they will leave irish soccer in the doldrums for possibly decades

90k cash, the rest of it in a big pension payout.

Presumably the justification is that it was cheaper to pay him off and make him go away than it would be to get tied up in litigation and spending a fortune on solicitors.

Well the point of the press conference was to present their accounts. They wouldn't have audited accounts for 2019 yet.

    Per the Irish Times;

"The accounts reveal that the organisation has net liabilities at the end of 2018 of €55 million. Since then, the association has had negative cashflow, meaning the financial situation has worsened. The accounts note that “continuous financial support from Uefa” has enabled it to continue operating."
