    Hey fellas,
I built this (with advice from here) back in '13.

    ASRock Z87 Extreme4, Socket 1150, ATX

    HGST Travelstar 5K1000 1TB, SATA 6Gb/s (x2)

Samsung SSD 840 EVO Basic 120GB SATA 6Gb/s
    Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB
    OCZ SSD (x2)

    16GB-Kit G.Skill RipJaws-X PC3-12800U CL9

Nanoxia Deep Silence One Dark Black, ATX, ohne Netzteil

Intel Core i5-4670K Tray,3,4 GHZ, 6MB Cache, LGA 1150, VGA

    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD

    ASUS HD7870-DC2-2GD5 V2, AMD Radeon HD 7870, 2GB, PCI-Express

It has run really well, for the last 6 years (Jebus has it really been that long?).

Anyway, I've gotten into editing 4k video in Premiere Pro and I find that my machine struggles in this area, so I'd like to improve that performance, if possible.

I play strategy games (Company of Heroes, C&C) but not much else.

Could y'all offer some wisdom about what direction my upgrade should take, or should I plan to replace the MB?

    All opinions welcome :)

Do a CPU/motherboard upgrade centered around Ryzen 2700/2700X.
The 2700X comes with the capable Wraith Prism, though a tower cooler like Arctic Freezer 34 is only £20.

Replace the PSU unless it's still in-warranty.
Add an NVMe SSD as a scratch disk - Sabrent Rocket, ADATA SX8200 Pro or Corsair MP510.
Upgrade GPU - GTX 1650 Super at minimum (go Nvidia for CUDA).
Don't forget that you need DDR4.

    Cheers bud :)
I'm rather attached to the case, it's a big black monster, so I'll keep that.

So I'm looking at a new MB, PSU, CPU and GPU....jeepers.
    My wallet is trembling already.

Never used an AMD processor before...

    A touch under €675 at cheapest: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/PMZz6R

You should maybe get half that back if you sell those parts on as a bundle or go to CEX.
