I’m wondering do I have a case against a hotel if I was to this this further.

Bit of background, I’m female who was with another female friend when all of the below happened. I have stayed at this fairly well know hotel on several occasion before.

When trying to get to our bedroom I was attacked from behind by another guest of the hotel. This guest and his party of friends were completely out of control. I wasn’t physical hurt but suffered several panic attacks that night and I was unable to stay in the hotel after it.

I now have to go to counseling as i’m Suffering from anxiety since.

    The guards have been notified

I went back to hotel the next day to see the cctv, it clearing shows what happened and by whom. We were told that day they had the attackers details and would be passed to the guards. At the request from the guards to get these details the hotel are now saying they don’t have his details. They did pass over the cctv.

I had to request my refund twice before it was done. There was no offering of a good will gesture/compensation. The hotel were very hard to deal with.

The hotel was some way at fault as before that we had to leave 2 situations in the hotel as this party were so out of control. Therefore the hotel didn’t provide a safe environment for their guests. This would be an established 4* hotel

Do you think I would have a case, details are a bit vague above as I don’t want to go into too much detail on this page but it was a very dramatic event for me and the hotels attitude since then has been very unprofessional in my opinion

It's awful that you and your friend got attacked, a hotel is almost like a home, you should have been safe there.

There may be a case against the hotel if they knew about the attacker's party being out of control and did not try to make them behave / call Gardai until you did that.

Moderator: a solicitor to whom you will be able to fully disclose the details of this matter will be able to advise in relation to whether or not there is anything that can be pursued as against the hotel.
