Eddie Howe's stock rises and falls like that of a penny share, right now it's looking a bit shabby. The goals have dried up but the defence is a bit of a shambles. West Ham would be a better gig - they do have good attacking options, certainly better than Everton.

Why does everyone put down Eddie Howe?

Brillant job at Bournemouth would be a good apointment for Everton.

There a small club they cant attract a big name.
They need to sort out there recruitment.

I'm not putting him down. He is a brilliant manager but he doesn't have the experience needed to bring a club into the top six, which is what Everton need. It'd be the wrong job for him and he'll end up getting tossed onto the managerial scrap heap after a season or two.

Everton need to concentrate on staying up rather than top 6 anytime soon.

Leicester & Wolves are way ahead of Everton. Nevermind the usual top 6.

Do Chris Wilder or Nuno Santo have the experience to bring a club into the top 6? They both currently are coaching their way into a top 6 position. Ironically, Nuno was linked with the Everton job a few years ago too, and some Everton fans were turning their nose up at him as he was unknown. They would defo take him now.

Sometimes, young hungry managers have to be given the opportunity to bring a team to the next level. Look at where Poch came from and brought Spurs. Southampton finished 14th & 8th under Poch before he moved to Spurs. Spurs were finishing 5th & 6th before Poch brought them up another level to be 2nd or 3rd most seasons.

I see Eddie Howe could be off to Everton.

Can see a top club like Arsenal and Man United regretting not approaching him. Think he would do a great job at either club.

Still has 2 years left on a massive contract with Dalian Yifang. Would they really look to buy him out of that?

Erik Ten Hag is the manager a team like that should want. Not sure he'd see that as much of a step up though. I wouldn't give it to Allegri. Eddie Howe another good option.

But we all know they'll end up giving it to Arteta with a Henry or Vieira-type as assistant

You seem to be able to come home from a chinese club whenever you want, they don't seem to be very solid contracts.

I don't even know if he would go to Everton having been Liverpool manager but a chance to work the EPL and the city his family live in again might be too much to turn down.

Rafa to Arsenal seems to be a no brainer, but it is Arsenal.

Sky: Everton consider replacing Silva before the Leicester game with Moyes and Howe in the frame.

If Howe goes there, we'll see a certain couple of posters very disappointed as their dreams of him going to United will be dashed.

I think Howe would be a very good appointment for Everton and would be a good career move if he eventually wants to move onto a bigger club.

Vastly underrated for some reason and isn't ever linked to a top PL job. Probably down to the fact his man management style and he's not afraid to butt heads with upper management.
West Ham or Arsenal are idiots if they don't try for him.

If Everton want to get into the top 6 they need two from Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Leicester and United to fall away for a prolonged period.

I just don't see that happening. United are bad at the minute but they'll get it right, same with Arsenal. Spurs have cut their losses with Poch and appointed Jose and I fully expect it to pay off and they at least make EL for next season.

Would do a much better job at the wheel than Ole I reckon

Howe at the wheel hasn't the same ring to it.

You do have a strange fetish like fascination with the man though.

If anything I think Dyche is better than Howe. Dyche has spent absolutely nothing and shown to be a more pragmatic coach than Howe IMO.

I'd agree. But a championship level manager would also do a better job than Ole

Aguero out for a few weeks, including the derby match but given City's ability to get players back for a big game I'd not pay much attention.

Except for Aguero long history of muscular injuries.

How is Ole still at the wheel?

If he wasn't an ex-player, he would not have got the job, and he would not still have a job. Not one player has improved under him as a coach. Some players are regressing.

He was put in as a stop gap and unbelievably the team which had been performing horribly went on a fantastic run. I actually thought it was a good appointment for them at the time. As a fan you'd be rightly annoyed with the players, who were dire before him, improved beyond belief and then reset to dire.

Rashford, no? He immediately started playing better under Ole (and scoring) and now some players are coming back, he seems in that kind of form again.

I think Dyche and Howe are holding out for the Liverpool job when Klopp leaves as planned in 2021. And they'd be right too

Possibly, but I wouldn't be so sure yet. He is still very hit and miss. The centre forward play hasn't really developed and has been criticized multiple times this season for not having good enough movement in and around the box. Neville criticized him again yesterday for it. As an ex-centre forward, this is the exact thing you would expect OGS to be coaching into Rashford. Movement in the penalty box was one of OGS biggest strengths, so it should be a no brainer.

    Lol.

    "Everton are a small club"
"Everton should be worried about staying up"

Where's that Simpsons meme where he walks in and walks back out?

Howe would bring some decent football to Everton but the defensive issues wouldn't be resolved.

rashford, james, mctominay, have all been much better, even fred is starting to play better under him

Id give him a break because Martial has been injured and offers a lot in build up for Rashford to capitalise upon, but thats just me.

Appreciate what Neville said, but involved in 2 goals, scoring one is decent.

Probably too early to judge, you are right.

If Everton have ambition and there is no reason to say they don't with the new owner and the amount of money they have spent in the transfer windows over the last few years and ambitious new stadium plans they should be going all out to get Poch.

Martial and Rashford are good squad players, neither would get anywhere near City or Liverpools teams!

That's not a metric I use much. Most players wouldnt. City and pool squad players don't get near the starting team too most of the time.

I think they are better than squad players anyway. Only issue is there inconsistency, for me. Be good to see them on a run of games playing together.
