Voting for Nena and her 99 luftballoons . loved it as a kid and have yet to outgrow it.

Sastedt, though I won't be devastated if the other gets through.

Nena, because I like it and because tubthumping is awful

    R 4 Match 3
The Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love – Finally, I get to vote on this one! Great punk pop. My vote.
    Vs
Peter Sarsted - Where do you go to, my lovely – Dreary love song.

    R 4 Match 4
Nena - 99 luftballons. – Not mad about this - it’s just alright. I prefer this German version to the English language version. But tactical voting in this case so… My vote.
    Vs
Chumbawamba – Tubthumping- I got fed up with this song a long time ago. It was only marginally better than their follow-up hit Insomnia.

Where Do You Go To, I'm still not sure if I even like it, but it coming up against competition that I definitely dislike so, it keeps getting my vote.

99 Luftbalons, again, not particularly passionate here, but I think it's the better of the two.

R 4 Match 3 - Peter Sarsted - Where do you go to, my lovely

    R 4 Match 4 - Nena - 99 luftballons.

    Easy decision x 2

#3 - Ever Fallen In Love

    #4 - 99 Luftballons

Not sure either of these will be our winner but they're the better of what's on offer here.

    Ever fallen in love

    Tubthumping

    I prefer both

Tubthumping because even though I got knocked down, I get back up again because you're never gonna keep me down

Ever Fallen In Love - brilliant song. My uncle's an ex-punk and this song always reminds me of him when he was young and cool :p

Tubthumping - I've just never got 99 red balloons, no matter what language it's in. And I can see why people would be fed up of Tubthumping but (somehow) I'm still not :)

For those who have not noticed, Nena's 99 Luft Balons has already got 7 votes, so it's too late for Tubthumping!

But they got up again so you're never gonna keep em down

Nena's 99 Luft has already got the 7 votes, so Tubthumping is out, but it's down to the wire for the other match!

Bollocks. I shouldnt be voting against my own nomination but Don't Fear the Reaper should probably win this out imo.

Class song, much better than Teenage Dirtbag

    Baker Street - bonafide classic!

Don't Fear The Reaper - again, much better song.

    #5 - Baker Street.
I really like Crash but I think Baker Street probably deserves to through more. I do think it drags a bit in parts and it wouldn't be my first choice to win overall, but that epic sax riff is just too good to resist.

    #6 - Don't Fear the Reaper.
Similarly I think Don't Fear the Reaper drags a bit in parts but it's overall more deserving than Teenage Dirtbag to go through.

Crash and don’t fear the reaper

    I like em a lot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,038 ✭✭✭Ficheall

Woah.. tough. The first round where I've liked all four songs..

Baker Street probably isn't in my top five Gerry Rafferty songs, but it was the reason I bought a sax, and I think it has to get my vote.

And I think Don't Feat the Reaper wins out in the other, but happy either way.

Crash and Don't Fear The Reaper because reasons...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,756 ✭✭✭Pretzill

    Baker Street
& Don't fear the reaper two very strong tracks and easily beat out their counterparts.

    Match 5

Crash - one of my nominations, but not a fan of Baker Street anyway

    Match 6

Really tough one this, but Don't Fear the Reaper just edges it as it's an all time classic.

    R 4 Match 5
The Primitives – Crash - Great guitar intro and catchy tune in the best possible sense. My vote.
    Vs
Gerry Raferty - Baker Street- Iconic tune just beaten by above,

    R 4 Match 6
Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag. - Tedious in the extreme.
    Vs
Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper - Classic rock. My vote, but it's academic as it's got it's 7 votes already!

I know it's too late but one vote for Wheatus so it doesn't get whitewashed!

I do love Reaper, but Teenage Dirtbag is such a point-in-time going for me

And definitely Baker Street, my nomination!
