Child won't eat sweets

I doubt this is posted too often but my little lad won't eat sweets but saves them for "later" as he says himself but never eats them. He keeps them in a container and carries it everywhere with him. He treats them like toys in a way. He went trick or treating for the first time this year and since then he has been like this. Im not looking for advice on how to make him eat sweets but wondering if anyone has experienced the same.
