Why don't they have old clips of gay with the music playing over it?

They should've given it 2 weeks lead in time and put on a Late Late worthy of the man.

Sinéad O’Connor was so stunning. I always forget that, the same way I tend to forget that Kurt Cobain was a fine lookin’ man.

Mary Coughlan sounds terrible. Particularly since she's a great singer

Should a former president of Ireland be wearing such a 'dress', brings the role in to disrepute.

Why. The present president wears one when he feels like a change now and again.

Gay genuinely was interested in people

I met him and he was lovely, really wanted to ask questions and hear answers about who I was and what I was doing.

Different class, he was one of a kind

Thought they missed a trick not showing more clips from the Late Late archives.

I realize people want to pay their tributes but they have an absolute goldmine in the archives they could have used, which would have been so much more of a tribute and celebration of the man than most of the waffle.

They should be able to knock up a couple of years out of the highlights and phone ins and panels they had on the old LLS.
Stick them on Saturday nights in place of Ray Darcy's awful show.
    Ratings winner.

Because the elite in rte want Kathleen to have something to look at after the funeral and see how much they adored her hubby Gay.

Plenty of time for that, this is RTE-still-repeating-reelin- in-the-years-20-years-later.

Dee Forbes will be using all that wall to wall over the Xmas period. And Brendan Grace footage.
    No money for anything else.

    Great show, great man.

(I'll read back on the thread when it comes out in paperback)

I’ve enjoyed this show. I mean as long as RTE continues there will never ever be another gay Byrne or anyone like him on tv and radio. He was a once in a generation. He was like Ireland’s answer to Johnny Carson in America. He was a connection for people to times/people who are longer here.

Ah Ryan... you didn't talk to Nell McCafferty...

What the hell man? She might have played the role of antagonist to Gaybo, but there was genuine respect between them.

To not speak to her-you're disrespecting Gay Byrne, and her too.

    Remember the old Joke?

What have Brian and Cinderella got in common?

I didn't want to be so bold as to say as much. Any idea who told the joke as it was pre-internet I think...but I remember my brother telling me.

    Not a bad show.

Look forward to the clips off old shows in the coming weeks, months and years.

He was a great presenter and a true legend.

    Rip.

I did like the sadistic pleasure he got out of using a supersoaker on the Toy Show audience.
