Jaysus that fiat panda is a shocking looking car! Couldn’t bring myself to purchase that.
    Thanks though.

They're death traps too, don't know what his fascination is with them!

    Still great cars though

If you’re at all concerned about NCAP and the likes, bangernomics isn’t really for you

As an aside, too, the original Mk2 Panda scored 3/5 stars on adult occupant safety when it was new. Hardly the worst in the world. Obviously they don’t stand much of a chance in more recent crash tests, but no car from 15 years ago will, not least small budget city cars

A similar priced Citroen C1/108/Aygo scored 4 stars in 2005 opposed the 0 stars for the Panda around the same years.

    That ****s on your reasoning!

It's funny, but the same car scored well a few years ago. The new tests put almost all the points in 'active' safety features they've been pushing into cars to help dothery younger drivers from killing themselves while updating their stories on Social media.

But laugh of the day goes tt the dope who came out with this one:

"These shocking Euro NCAP test results demonstrate an inconsistent commitment to safety, as FIAT has produced four and five-star cars in the past.”

NCAP told us that car was safe 10 years ago. Did they lie to us then or now?

But was it not the new model Panda, in 2018, that got 0 stars?

The 04/5 shape scored 3 stars, one less than the C1/107/Aygo? (In 2005)

    3 stars, not 0 stars, you gobs**te!

You are welcome to crash in a 2004 Panda should you think that the test is the problem, maybe be the dummy or maybe you are already!

The dismal 2004 Panda scored a shocking 2 star for child occupant safety while the C1/108/Aygo got a healthy 4 star.

I know which one I'd put my precious cargo in.....a Volvo 850!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,328 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Panda got 3 stars in NCAP in 2004, 4 stars in 2011, and 0 stars in 2018

Argo got 4 stars in 2005, and 3 stars in 2012

You lose stars over the font on the Isofix labels nowadays.

At the advice of some people here I’ve thrown up my Corolla for sale, will be throwing it up in the Cheap-Eco-Nomics thread as well, willing to cut a Boardie some sort of deal if anyone has any interest.

    2004 Toyota Corolla
    NCT 01-20
    Tax 10-19

Might sound mad but if I actually had a rain proof shed I'd buy stuff like this ...

Have a barn but the rain would get at it, high roof designed for hay.

That's a great find in fairness and seller seems honest using the word "apparently"

here's an older Polo but 10 times the price!

Ah stick a few sheets on the side of it and you're laughing :D
There aren't many of those around now that aren't drove into the ground or rusted to bits and they were a great simple reliable car and easy to work on too

    Very true....

Funny it brings me back as I use to buy heaps to rally, funny thing is got a lovely 91 fiesta full body kit with the double fogs, rallied in field for 4 weeks, it had good test and tax sold for profit.

The Volvo 2.4 rear wheel drive ex doctor car with every extra you could tick was absolutely smashing till a tree got in the way...

Personally I don't get what the obsession was at the time and still apparent obsession is with them Mark III Polo's. I acquired one once for a couple of months and just found it shockingly bad and an inferior product compared to the then equivalent Toyota/ Nissan/ Ford of the time. I know these are city cars but by comparison it seemed downright dangerous to drive at 100 kph also.

Granted they looked fairly smart for their time but I can't see them having much extra going for them.

Nice clean Octavia Estate here. 1.6 Petrol, low mileage, NCT until April next year. If all checks out, not a bad looking car.

Might be worth throwing 3 months tax on it to attract more buyers.

    03 Volvo S80
    Few months NCT
Full service history and 2 owners, both in same family. New battery also
Could be a nice buy for 500 quid. Listed at €550

I'm always wary of cars that look bad in the photos - they tend to be infinitely worse in the flesh. Plus, he has my #1 red flag: "no timewaters" This guy has dealt with a lot of disappointment when people view it.

But a 2.4 diesel at 1.6 tax for 1.1 money makes it worth the look if that's what you need.

Edit: actually looking at it again it's not that bad looking.
