    Interesting that Goodhue is in that clip!
    He might get the nod again for Saturday

    We're absolutely ****ed without Aki.

    GT in ITimes reports the XV:

    Kearney; Earls, Ringrose, Henshaw, Stockdale;
    Sexton, Murray;
    Healy, Best, Furlong;
    Henderson, Ryan;
    O’Mahony, van der Flier, CJ Stander.

    We're absolutely ****ed without Aki.

    Massive call to start Henshaw
    He wasn’t up to speed last week and I’m skeptical that after 60mins of rugby he’s ready to deliver the biggest performance of his life

    NZ team announced:
    No Crotty or Ben Smith
    Would have liked to see Coles start - brilliant player but he’s a YC waiting to happen.

    Barrett; Reece, Goodhue, L-Brown, Bridge;
    Mo’unga, Smith;
    Moody, Taylor, Laulala;
    Retallick, Whitelock;
    Savea, Cane, Read.

    Reps:
    Coles, Tuungafasi, Ta’Avao, Barrett, Todd, TJ Perenara, SBW, Barrett.

    I’d say it’d be an even bigger call to start Farrell ahead of Henshaw. Henshaw will be sharper again on Saturday and will be vital bringing the line speed from 12. Him and Ringrose are an established partnership too, even more so than him and Aki. It’ll be an area of strength for us on Saturday. He’s a top quality 12. Farrells has his moments, but Henshaw is a step above.

    You’re Probably right. & Joe!
    Good point on the line speed.
    I was looking at from an attacking point and ball in hand.
    And worry that he physically might not be able for 80min at this level - The mind weakens when the body gets tired.

    This NZ is definitely beatable, not a patch on previous iterations. Weak in the backrow, 10, centres. Pretty green wings. Retallick just back from a nasty injury.

    I think Joe has been molding this Irish team with an intent to beat NZ in the WC, and if they can play to their ability, they've a good chance. Consider how far we've come along under him, to where NZ legitimately have to worry about beating us.

    Weak in the back row? Perhaps compared to other All Blacks squads in years gone by, but going into the Irish game I'd say it's where there is the clearest advantage to the All Blacks.

    I'm pretty surprised by some of the selections for Saturday. Really thought Hansen would go for Coles and Crotty in the starting lineup, and would have still expected Smith on the bench.

    Roll on Saturday.

    Herring on the way over to replace an injured Cronin. That's a shame. .

    Seems like a waste of time. Best and Scannell will play and Herring will head back home with the rest of the squad.

    I’m surprised they didn’t go with Crotty and that there’s no place for Ben Smith in the 23.

    That’s a very inexperienced NZ back line, a ten with fourteen caps, 13 with eleven caps, two wings with seven and five caps and a 15 with five or six games in the position. They are all obviously quality players but if they were to go in and win the World Cup it would be by some margin the most inexperienced back line to do so.

    Haven’t seen much of Reece outside of highlight clips but just watching game against South Africa, I think there’s mistakes in him (pass across his own line stands out) and I didn’t think Barrett was especially solid under high balls, dropped at least one. Think their back three is gettable. I’m feeling much more optimistic than I was a week ago.

    Only watched a few crusaders games so open for correction but Reece looked a poor defender. Retallick bound to be rusty too. Certainly not the most intimidating ABs team I've seen.

    Unfortunately on all known form and logic I think we could be in for an awful hammering on Saturday.

    Who did the November’18 write up? Seen them post they’d do this one but can’t remember? We need all voodoo hoodoo, everything we all did that day to be done in that order Saturday :)

    What if Best or Scannell pick up a knock in the warm up or get ill the night before?

    According to radio he trained with the team this morning.

    Very strong 23 named by NZ. That’s their best lineup IMO.

    I'm really liking that 19 and 20 combo as well

    That'd be me.
    Hoping to get it sorted before bed time tonight.

    Disappointed to see POM in the team as he adds nothing in general play but apart from that its a strong team and strong bench.

    Hopefully they tear into them early and get them worried early on then we will have a game on our hands.

    If the All Blacks get a good start I cant see us coming from behind

    Seems to be expected team.

    Henshaw needs to have a BIG game to justify his trip to Japan imo.

    This all blacks team got hammered by Australian recently? They are very good rugby player but far from vintage compared to others. Their outhalf is no Carter for one. I remember the same thinking after Australia beat us and we played NZ a week after and were within seconds of beating them. I expect a cliffhanger on Saturday as we don’t fear this all black team.

    Are we doing predictions? Here's mine.

    It'll be a tight game. We're going to drag NZ into an arm wrestle of a game. We'll end up chasing the game around the 65 min mark and NZ will run up a margin of 16 points or so. The final score will flatter NZ but won't represent how close the game was

    After seeing the teams I'm changing my prediction.

    WE won't be able to handle their pace. They'll get a quick start and then hold us at arms length for the rest of the game. We'll get within 10 points and then they'll put their foot down and run away with it

    What’s particularly different about the selection to change your mind?

    People give POM this kinda stick all the time.
    Usually the excuse given to write off his outstanding performances ala November '18 all blacks win as him only having singular stand out performances on these types of occasions

    Surely if that reason to write him off regularly is true then this is exact the game you would then actually want him in...

    More pace from 9-15 than us. We can't handle it

    Are we going back to a team that did great a couple of years ago but was declining. We had some fresh blood more recently and picked things up a bit and now for the biggest test, back to that which was fading? Did I hear that Conway is not even on the bench? Maybe Joe's plan is not to score tries per se but stop them scoring and hope to kick enough penalties.

    They were down to 14 men for half of the match, which definitely played its part.
