    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has some advice or guidance about how to dock/attach my phone (pixel 2) to a monitor and keyboard and if possible a mouse.

Yes, you need this or similar.

Wireless keyboards/mouse with dongles designed for windows pc work. Some gamepads with dongles may work although I think bluetooth gamepad connections have much better compatability.

Bought one of those last year instead of buying an android box to use with my old LG G5 which has usb-c, it was a good investment. The phone would have a better processor and memory than most of those boxes which is why I did that.

I bought one with as many connections as possible which one might need sometime, 1 hdmi, 1 VGA, 3 Usb-c Ports and Ethernet although I never got the ethernet to work to connect to my pc to access the hard drive but I didn't spend much time on it. I have a 500GB USB portable drive which worked to. I had to set it up fresh and format it before it could be used with android which was a pain because that would wipe any files on it. There may be a way around this but I didn't look into it.

You must buy one with a PD port if using hdmi because it powers and charges the phone at the same time. Sometimes hdmi won't work at all without being plugged in but that I think has something to do with the specific fone you have but it makes sense to have it powered anyway or your battery may fully deplete.

That won't work as the Pixel 2 doesn't support HDMI output over USB C. On a positve note, Android Q supports native Desktop Mode (enabled in Developer Options) so you could use a Chromecast to mirror your screen and a bluetooth keyboard + mouse combo to control it (such as the Logitech K400 which is excellent).
