Phone going blank in calls/voicemails

I have a Huawei P20 Pro Lite. recently the screen goes black when I ring someone or listen to a WhatsApp voice messages. No idea why or if I've updated it. Sounds like your proximity/light sensor is faulty.
Phone thinks that it is up against your face all the time so goes dark/screen off as soon as you make a call.
