Help please fined twice same offense

I parked in a wheelchair spot by accident months ago. I received a fine and have been saving up to pay it. I’ve now gathered up the money only to realize that I was fined twice for the one time I parked in the disabled spot. I was fined at 8.10pm and the second fine is for 8.50pm.

I’m panicking now because I’ve only enough cash to pay one fine. Can I be fined twice for the same offense. Why was there no fine / letter put on my window by either guard when they issued me with the fine?

Any advise greatly appreciated.

How do you park in a disabled parking spot by accident.

I would go to the local gardai station and appeal the 2nd fine.

Fairly sure you can't be fined for the same offence within a certain time frame. Otherwise we would get a ticket issued every minute and be bankrupt.

You can't receive multiple penalty points (where applicable) resulting from the same occasion and you can't be tried twice for the same offence (double jeopardy rule), but strictly speaking double jeopardy does not apply to any pre trial stages such as a fine, though in practice in the interests of fairness they also will not fine twice for the same offence within reason.

Was the big painted wheelchair not a clue that it MAY HAVE BEEN A DISABLED SPOT, accident indeed.
