Cars parking on yellow zone outside of school

    Hi,

I am wondering if there is any recourse regarding this situation.

My children go to school and outside of the school gates is a road, not a main road but housing estate style road. The road area outside of the gate has been painted with yellow hazard lines advising people on to park there, however these are ignored and parents park there.

As you can imagine the road gets quite busy at pick up times and the amount of times cars have to jam on breaks to avoiding hitting a child running out behind a car is ridiculous.

There is a lollipop person on the opposite road on the opposite the school which is a less used entrance but this side has none even though it is the busiest side.

I have brought this issue to the schools attention but they have washed there hands saying anything outside of school gates is not their problem but in my view it will be if a child gets hit by a car which is only a matter of time.

Is there anything I or other parents can do to rectify the situation?

Local school has that problem but an occasional Garda showing up quickly resolves it. That may be your best option.

I have said it before, we need a fleet of mobile car crushers.

Pet hate of mine!! Seems it happens outside a lot of schools, Gardai here do regular ticket drops on the cars parked illegally or stop people in the process of illegally dumping their car.

Unfortunately it only stops them for a while, there will always be selfish, lazy and inconsiderate drivers. They don't seem to care about the hazard to all of the other school kids (amongst others) as long as their precious darlings don't have to walk too far.

    No .

Drop your kids and go if they attend the school if not keep driving it clears after 20 odd minutes in most cases ,
the school and staff have zero authority outside of the school gates,
Your welcome to speak to these people yourself but expect to be told to take a run and jump
