Going bald at 22 and starting back into college, what can I expect?

I’m 22, been going bald since the age of 18 give or take.
It’s started thinning in the back so it’s time to buzz.

I’m also starting back into college as a 2nd year this September after dropping out awhile back.
I’ll be going to a different college where I don’t really know anyone.

I’m currently working for the summer so my plan is to buzz it when I finish up in a little less than 2 weeks, I just can’t be arsed with the conversations around shaving my head at work so I may as well wait.
Then I’ve some time to let it grow back a little if it’s horrific looking!

What can I expect when shaving my head at a young age?

What can I expecting going back to college and being bald?

I never had any issues dating, but I also wasn’t noticeably bald then either.
I’ll be commuting from home and I’m giving up drinking so I won’t really be going out.. I’d imagine all of that’ll make my dating life more nonexistent than it already is.

I just know than buzzing it down to a 1 or 2 will look a damn sight better than balding.
I’m 5’7 and in average shape (luckily have broad shoulders and a narrow waist).
I’ve low expectations to say the least..

Own it! I recently buzzed it to a 2 all over. I've been thinning for probably 5 years now. The front part of my hairline was slightly thicker so I didn't know how bad it was. It wasn't until I took a picture to see how far along the thinning was that I saw how ridiculous it looked.

It's still a bit of a suprise in the mirror sometimes but I definitely wish I buzzed it sooner. Do it now rather than let it bother you.

Nothing wrong with balding as long as you have it buzzed nice and neat. If you don't have a beard maybe consider one, i have a short beard but the key isn't just to keep it trimmed but to line it up nice and neat too.

Stay in shape, keeping the weight of the face is important when bald, when hairline doesn't define face you need that definition in my opinion

Go for it while it's still a bit sunny get a bit of colour , it will look sharp and there's no better feeling than doin your own hair , no more barber talk ...

Buzz it off. I’ve been doing it since I was 28 or so. You do get a lot of comments I won’t lie but honestly I don’t care. Most comments are from lads who are already balding and saying they wish they had the balls to shave it. Just do it, feck them. Bald heads look better than people trying to hold onto it.

Met a fella in a pub a few weeks ago, he was 21 and made some comment about not wanting to shave his head cos he was going bald. Looked at his hair and only noticed it was all pushef forward and had that powder stuff in it. He pulled it back and it was gone back a good 3 or 4 inches and looked absolutely ridiculous. You don’t want to be that guy.

I have a friend who started going bald at 15.
He embraced it and shaved his head and just lived with it. That seemed to work for him.

Started losing my hair at a similar age to OP, im 40 now,wasn't easy at that age in fairness.
Truth be told if there was a pill I could take to grow it all back I probably wouldn't bother taking that pill, would imagine it be just too much hassle having hair now.
I wet shave my head with a razor twice a week.

It never stopped me pulling the ladies back then either. Married with 3 kids now though.
I agree with others also, keep yourself looking fit physically and no one will even notice your hair or lack of it to be more precise

Its funny one guy used to give me a bit of hassle over it, was constantly mentioning it and trying to get a rise out of me as he ran his fingers through his lushes locks.
I met him at a half Marathon a few weeks ago and after not seeing him for a good decade, same fella is now as bald as an egg.
Another guy who would try do the same with me his wife told me recently he is now spending a fortune on regaine, the gob****e.

Started going bald about 22 also, ended up just shaving it as a 2 in the barbers one time and haven't looked back since. Nice and simple, 2 all over and look better now than I ever did with hair lol

I'll throw my vote toward shaving it, man.

I started thinning at the crown around 28 and it got slowly and gradually worse over the past five years.

I always said I didn't want to look like that guy who desperately hangs onto his hair and has a bald spot, but I was super worried about what I'd look like shaved.

Anyways, the missus finally told me a few months back (only about three months into the relationship) that it was time, so I shaved the lot off.

I'm glad I have, and to be honest, I kinda wish I'd done it sooner. If I could have hair back with a magic pill, I would, but I love the lack of hassle and no more barbers of being shaved.
I do feel like my 'handsome' days are behind me (though my missus does disagree with me!), but it's simply a different look now. More masculine, older, but that's where I'm at, and who I am. Shaving the hair is acceptance of that.

unless your head is shaped like an aztec pyramid id say shave it.

It doesn't matter what hair you have or don't have, worrying about it will affect your confidence.

Also shaving your head so young will actually make you stand out in a good way.
