Very solid squad for the next 2/3 seasons. Hoping we can kick on in that period. Think fixture details for Champions Cup are out mid August so maybe around 16th judging by previous years..

maybe but could imagine naming rights would be more of reason shame it's happening A games in Clonmel, Waterford, Tralee were great and far better for Munster IMO

MRSC AGM has reverted to a midweek night again - they tried a prematch AGM and it doesn't seemed to have worked
The Annual General Meeting of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club will take place at the Charleville Park Hotel on Wednesday August 21st at 7:30PM.

We are delighted to announce that Munster Rugby Head Coach Johann van Graan and senior coach Stephen Larkham will be our guests on the night with an exclusive Q & A for members. Acting C.E.O Philip Quinn will deliver a Munster Rugby update while the MRSC committee will also detail progress within the supporters’ club.

A huge step backwards. Pre match allowed people to get there from all over the country. I made all but the last one from Dublin. Are people really going to trek from West Cork and Waterford and Dingle, not to mention those of us who live outside Munster, to Charleville on a Wednesday night for this?

Is it? The vast majority of members don't attend and obviously numbers didn't pick up when it was held before a match. I actually don't know anyone who's ever attended and I've been a member for over 15 years.

I know a lot of people who could only go when they put it before a game, myself included

I'm not convinced. How many were at the last two AGMs? These were on match nights. Match nights probably only suit those who can get there early and/or those that don't have non members with them.

I wasn't at either but I've attended a good few of the Charleville AGMs and they seem to get a fair cross section of the membership attending.

Also worth noting you'll seldom if ever get a coach to attend an AGM prior to a match and we're getting two at this AGM.

yes people will. Chatleville is a very regular spot for meetings of all kinds for different Munster committees, groups and yes you will get plenty interested who will travel for an agm. Numbers attending before a match were not that big and certainly not much if at all bigger than when the agm was held mid week in another venue so better off to move it

Fla on leaving his coaching role with Munster
He says the decision to depart the Munster coaching set-up after five years came down to a "gut feeling". "It's a fantastic job coaching with Munster. I loved it and it was a really good environment to work in, so it wasn't an easy decision to make. But just as things went on, I felt like all good things come to an end," he told the Ireland Unfiltered podcast.

Curious if you could buy one of the retro or previous years Munster/Irish jersey what would be your go to

This old chestnut has come up again. Surely would only be viable if it brought in a good bit more than a sold out TP? They might push it to 30-35k max at a stretch but don't see how that would justify

    Never gonna happen.

Leinster at Christmas is going to be Thomond for the foreseeable, capacity gains wouldn’t be worth it.

We’d only see PuC used for a Europe semi and even then it’d be a long shot

Yeah that would be my thinking. Be interesting to see substance of articles as GAA promoting idea would hardly be ''talks'' but maybe they've made an approach to Munster about it.

Especially as Leinster is a big ST selling point, moving it to cork would negate that..

I'd guess it's the GAA have suggested ti, rather than actual talks

Give me leinster v munster in TP in the middle of Limerick rather than in PUC in an industrial estate on the outskirts of Cork every time.

Yup. Munster make a fortune out of this match. Paying rent for PUC and losing out on corporate revenue means that it's never going to happen.

That and the fact that the IRFU and the GAA wouldn't allow it to happen.

Not just the ST, but the 5/10 year tickets are sold for TP, so these games will be there for another decade.

GAA rules allow for non-GAA games to be played in exceptional circumstances. What's exceptional about this?

    Nothing in this I'd say.

The money to the GAA would be exceptional.

They relaxed that rule afaik. Whether that match would count as "an event of national significance" is another q but decision with GAA at end of day so

Wonder if a sold out PUC would bring in more money though even less rent? Obviously GAA aren't doing it out of goodness of their hearts but if rent wasn't viable wouldn't be an option at all

It's the same old story; the GAA did not need another big stadium in Munster along with Thurles and Killarney but the rebels are too important to have their biggest rivals in each code having the best pitch, so they had spend a fortune on POC.
Now they are looking for any way they can to fill it more often.

Not a whole lot in this tbh. Back to the default of believe it when we see it then. Nevermind! https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/rugby/pairc-in-the-frame-to-host-munster-leinster-rugby-clash-944271.html

It must be a slow news day to say they are rolling this out again, why would Munster want to have a non-full PuC when they can fill TP. There is no upside to Munster for moving a regular game to PuC, maybe a HEC semi could be moved but why would the IRFU pay rent when they'd make more themselves out of the Aviva.

I'd say the main thing here is that PuC is 1 of the biggest white elephants and waste of money every in the history of sport in this country, they won't even let the Cork footballers play there so chances are there'll be 3 games there a year through the GAA so they need to make it look like other games will be played there.

Yeah, if it was to ever happen, it most definitely wouldn't be this season.

With all the hassle with the pitch in PuC I'd imagine there would be quite a considerable charge to playing a winter game there.

True , would the pitch even be ready and what about everyone that has hotels already booked .
