Is Mane not starting? I'm sure he'll want a big season to engineer a move to one of Europe's top clubs. Ah I'm kidding I know that we are quite literally Europe's top club until next May sometime.

Mane has scored on opening day for the past 3 years....and I've made him Fantasy Football captain...

I think Matip does not deserve to lose his place. He was excellent coming into the team after Gomez was injured last year.

We can expect a lot of rotation in midfield this year.

Yep it is harsh on Matip, especially after his finish to the season last year. Gomez started the Charity Shield so he may start again tonight. His recovery pace is a big asset and while Matip has other attributes like being able to carry the ball into midfield, Gomez can also pass quickly through the lines.Norwich will come for the draw, so quick passing through the lines will be an asset tonight IMO

Hopefully he starts. He's only been off for 2 weeks and back training since Monday. Prefer to see Matip start ahead of Gomez too. He was great in the run in and deserves to keep his place. Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Keita in midfield please.

After a lot of doom & gloom over the summer, we should start off with a nice win to nil tonight. I'd take the 3 points and 1-0 now if offered, just to get off the mark and up and running. A big 4-0 scoreline is nice, but 3 points is nicer!

    Alisson
    Trent Gomez VVD Robertson
    Hendo Fabinho Gini
    Salah Firmino Origi

I would have liked Ox or Keita to start, but think they will see game time from the bench this evening.

What doom and gloom? We’re champions of Europe? It’s been the most enjoyable summer from a football perspective in 14 years.

Not sure of his username here, but I am excited to see the new European Cup winning managers banner tonight from the Irish lads!

Mane may be on the bench - Klopp said in the press conference yesterday that he only had one session with the squad. He arrived back at the club on Monday after the session was finished, he was evaluated and trained on his own on Tuesday as the the rest of the squad had a rest day so Wednesday was his first session with the team.

Gomez seemed a bit off the pace early on in the Charity Shield. Norwich should provide a chance for him to get his rhythm - he needs minutes on the pitch. Matip looked okay when he replaced TAA so he's ready if required.

Must have been the disappointment of the lads bottling the league...

I agree but there's been loads of absolute misery's here and on social media near enough to tipping themselves off a cliff cos we didn't sign anyone. Some lads just can't enjoy anything.

Well it’s a ridiculous attitude as far as I’m concerned. We scaled the mountaintop, enjoy the bloody view for a couple of months at least.

I hope we win tonight like but I won’t be majorly fussed if we don’t.

Yeah didn't hear any doom and gloom from fellow Liverpool fans. Quote the opposite. Utd supporting mates on the other hand!

Can't remember a summer ever where I've been as relaxed regarding the club.

    My team would be
    Alisson
    Trent - Matip - VVD - Robertson
    Henderson - Fabinho
    Salah - Shaq - Mane
    Firmino

Lets not forget, this is Norwich, they will defend defend defend.

Its the first game of the season, they are newly promoted and they aren't expected to do well.

Don't be surprised to see them give it a go.

They conceded 57 goals last year. Defense isn't their main focus.

I think they have a number of key injuries in defense as well.

Norwich like to play ball, keep possession etc and even though they won the Championship they had the 8th best defence so they're not going to be able to dog it out. First game of the season, confidence still high from last season, I think they'll give a go and be quickly punished for it.

    Alisson

    TAA - Gomez - VVD - Robertson

    Gini - Fabinho - Keita

    Salah - Firmino - Mane

I think Mane will go straight back in tonight for two reasons, he likely has no fitness worries after playing most of the summer and he'll want to be playing. Norwich at home and he'll have his eyes on getting a few goals and winning the top scorer award outright this year.

Salah is going to score four.

Well, maybe not. But I do think he'll cause havoc.

I don't think Keita will feature in the starting 11, he has barely played in Pre season unlike most. Henderson Gini and Fab with Milner a possibility will more than likely be the midfield.

Id say apart from that your bang on, would still much prefer Matip start than Gomez myself

Yeah Keita is more of what I'd prefer, thought he looked really sharp when he came on in Community shield. But as you say, three from the four of Henderson, Fabinho, Gini, Milner will probably be playing.

Agree with you, Naby looked great, sad Ox didn't have a good pre season, would have loved to see him back, honestly think if he doesn't play much by Jan he should go for a 6 month loan to get his fitness back. He deserves game time.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Keita in the front 3 if Mane isn't match fit.

    Sane out for 6-7 months.
Don't wish it on anyone but he's a top player to lose.

Seems Mane is fitter than most, he never had a break.
