Getting a phone Unlocked

My wife is due an upgrade from Vodafone, can be a new phone for free or pay a little more and get a better phone, either way she is happy with her current phone and I will get the upgrade. The problem is she is with Vodafone(Business) and I am with 3(Payg). I am looking at an iPhone 8, iPhone XR or a Samsung Galaxy S10. If I get one of these I suspect it will be locked to Vodafone for at least a year, the term of the contract. Is there any way I could get one of these phones unlocked, be it either Samsung or Apple or are both as difficult to unlock even if it is possible. Any ideas appreciated.

Pretty sure no matter the brand or network the phone is on you can get it unlocked, just depends on where. I'm in Offaly and there's a local TRAX shop that unlocks locked phones, so if you have one of those local to you it would be a start.

seems much cheaper to unlock an S10 than a recent iphone. ebay is the way to go for unlock keys. you pay and sent imei and they send you the code or sometimes you use software and a pc.
