How much for Windows 10?

Hi there, Might be looking to buy a copy of Windows 10 to get a friend's old computer running a bit better. But I'm surprised by the range of prices! Microsoft have the Home edition online for €145. Hi there,

Might be looking to buy a copy of Windows 10 to get a friend's old computer running a bit better.

But I'm surprised by the range of prices! Microsoft have the Home edition online for €145. Amazon have Home on DVD for €49, but that's OEM.

And then another place, Software Distributors.co have it Windows 10 Pro for €39.

I'm guessing some of the options online are dodgy, so any advice on a good place to buy it, and how much I should be spending?

You can use windows 10 for free. Only a watermark thst is barely noticeable at the bottom right hand of the screen. If the watermark bothers you you can get cheap CD keys on amazon for 10 pounds or so. They just email you the key. Yes they are not intended for consumer use but that's the retailers problem, not yours.

I bought one of these keys last year and no problems with fully updated windows.

FYI, ebay don't cover codes. If the seller sold you a bad code, you would have no comeback. Not sure if this is the case for Amazon or not.

Thanks for the replies. So it looks like €140 for a fully legal one and then anything less has the potential to be dodgy, the biggest concern obviously being will the Activation Code work!

Will see if I can find somewhere online that seems a bit more trustworthy at least, or has some sort of comeback re activation codes...
