Did any of you ever get slapped as a child?

I didn't slap my kids when they were small. I definitely waved the wooden spoon around though!
It's just as well because now they are teens. What would I do now if I had relied on slapping them as a discipline method for all those years? I could hardly be having fisticuffs with six foot lads now!!
One thing they often threw at me was "I'm not afraid of you" to which I'd say. I don't want you to be afraid of me. No answer to that really.

I'm the adult and you're the child is a phrase that has always worked well for me and still does.
