Only among GAA followers. On the international sporting stage Lowry`s win is of far greater prestige.

If golf was a sport :D

Prize money is small fry compared to the endorsements and sponsorship deals that will follow. This unbelievable victory greatly transcends such menial matters of finance.

    :)

They switched to US dollars in 2017 as it's the most widely used currency for Golf prize money.

Anyone know what effect this is likely to have on his world ranking position?

By my count 26 scores better than Shane today!

He was saying that amongst the last 20 people out when the weather got bad there was no one better than him than Finau.

Lowry`s Championship and fully deserved. A quick look though at Koepka`s record in the Majors in 2019.

    Masters T2
    PGA Championship 1
    U.S. Open 2
    Open Championship T4

Mr Consistency to be fair to him

    Too late

At the elite level in sports you must be an athlete, don't get me started on darts! :)

I enjoy them for what they are anyway, congrats to Lowry great day.

Koepka having a right go at JB Holmes about his slow play.

What a ****ing day and what a ****ing week. Phenomenal event, phenomenal golf course and of course a phenomenal champion.

An amazing performance from Shane. Very nervy first tee shot but played well after that and managed his lead in the conditions extremely well. I think a massive amount of credit has to go to his caddie here. Great chats between them and had his man in control mentally.

It’s the course Iv deliberately have left as the last on my top 100 to play in Ireland and from watching on TV I might have to go as soon as possible. What a course. Simply spectacular.

What a year for Irish golf. Held both the male and female amateur championship and the open on our Ireland and two of them won by Irish golfers. Sugrue and Shane - take a bow

Anyone up there - looked a nightmare weather wise.

Wonder will Shane hang around or head home.

That was always going to happen. Having basically the fastest player on tour with the slowest was always going to end in years really. He has an interesting take on it as he said he is just never ready for his shot and not necessarily slow when in his routine.

Another element on how good Shane’s round was yesterday.

Level par round today and he's an open champion!

Absolutely delighted for the man, big opportunity and he took it with both hands. Chances don't come around too often. Well done. Another big boost for golf in this country.
