Shane looking very strong here, I like Fleetwood but I'm glad it's him chasing Lowry rather than a Speith or Koepka type.

Would the win put him in the world's top 10? 33rd going into the tournament.

    Top 20 I’d say.

Think his highest was 18 after WGC but could be wrong

2 shots gained on Fleetwood today. All over bar the cheering.

Barring a collapse by Shane, he should be safe.

He looks comfortable. And confident but I am sure he'll have a bad shot before the end, hopefully he'll not let it affect him

BBC had a documentary on during the week about the course and interviewed McDowell's brother who's a groundsman there. He was the most Northern Irish man I'd ever heard.

I had a quick look last night and I think it will move him up to around 12th, but that wasn't taking into account anyone else's performance.

    i agree with this.

i couldn't handle some other players around.

it takes the stress off a little.

McDowel clever with words . Irish man on top on irish soil.

He has the shots to spare now and has a winning mentality.
    He won’t make many mistakes.

Sky looks very ominous there. Last thing shane wants is a delay due to lightning

Mcginely will claim victory at some point.

The gods are on Lowry's side so far.
    That bounce was blessed.

The Rain Gods are smiling on Shane. Great bounce there.

Those running the official Open website are a joke. They're persisting with the Holmes/Koepka group, instead of showing the Lowry pairing - despite Shane being more than ten shots ahead of them.

but that was their group picked. you cant just change . thats the idea .

anyway id say balancing act against paid broadcasters who want real action.

Weather looks shocking now. If he can get through next few holes without damage it will be great

For all the negative talk about gmac and his accent online I always liked his positive outlook. This week meant a lot to him and to hear him speak about Shane, Rory, Darren and Pádraig as they are all one and pulling for each other.

    Fierce soft out there now.

Glad I’m sitting on my couch watching this anyway.

When out in this all I can ever think about is getting back in and taking a 20 minute long shower.
