I collected a Mk7.5 Golf GTI PP during the week early 181 with tech pack. I have a query on Car net currently all I have on the infotainment display is an option for app connect which works fine. However there is no Car net option can I purchase the like of the guide and inform or security and service package or is it a case that if the car didn't have them new then they can’t be retrofitted.

I did try to register on the we connect app but it just keeps saying my VIN is not recognised maybe that’s down to the fact I don’t have car net I am not sure. If anyone had any info on this it would be great.

Waste of effort and money. Had it on GTI and only used it for giving me prices of local petrol stations twice. Haven’t even activated it on the Tiguan.

Was thinking of just getting the DataPlug as that has an app and seems to show a certain amount of what the car net shows.

Ah no delighted with it overall. Great the fact you can just get in and drive it normally like any other golf and then equally when the mood is right it can be very fun.

Really well specced also which even with no options the GTI has a lot on it. Very surprised at the amount of attention it gets from people wasn’t really expecting it at all or it didn’t even really cross my mind before I bought it.

I've an 11 year old gti and it's crazy the amounts of complements it gets. I suppose they just have a cult following!

I had one on my old car. Didn't really use it too often. Don't think car net is too good either.

    Okay, okay, okay... :pac:

I only have a few crappy quality photos of the car; I was planning on taking some good quality ones but the outside of the car is now filthy after all the driving done over the weekend! :D

    Here ye go:

I will take some decent photos when she's clean again and post them!

I saw this car in Galway over the weekend and it is a beaut. Pity the man who owns it is a Kilkenny man:D

Seriously its a beautiful car, the wheels and colour make it.

Dynaudio and App Connect for €299 was an absolute bargain.

Saw a nice 2017 in the Uk earlier for 34k euro inc vrt.

Is anybody considering buying GTI -PP 2019 from VW UK considering very good sterling rate?
I am calculating VRT around 8k for dsg performance pack that brings car up to 38k 2019 ... Am I missing something?
Checked same car at FK and is around 44k.

I think the main draw to buying one here is the cheaper finance being offered by VW dealer network vs the cost of traditional finance from a bank etc. Different story if you are paying cash though.

Totally agree.. just calculated if i borrow 38k from bank brings to over 44k.

I think it's a lot of the reason why 2-3 year old used cars from the main dealers are on average 3-5k more expensive too. They are making nice margins on the cars coming back from PCP deals as well as the new ones.

Be aware too that such a fresh car can be liable for VAT as well as vrt. Needs to be at least 6 months old or have (i think not sure) 6k kms on the clock before vat doesn't apply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 158 ✭✭AutoMan79

I believe if it's a new car you would get export price without UK VAT. Paying here for VAT and VRT it would be still way cheaper..
Definitely, it's less complicated if car is 6 months old with 6km on clock.

Your problem will be trying to find a dealer who will want to sell the car to you ex UK VAT.

If Borris keeps beating the drum you could probably save about 8k before October, Sterling reaches parity with the dollar and the dollar seems overvalued. Interesting few months ahead.

I'm consistently amazed by the libraries of the brochures some posters on this thread have. I genuinely think between you, ye have every single brochure and price list that's ever come out for every model year and variant of the MK7.

Something odd about it though that I spotted is it doesn't seem to have the button for the parking sensors.

Since there don't look to be any sensors on the front, it's probably aftermarket rear sensors.

Ironically a VW dealer will install parking sensors aftermarket, but the ones they install don't integrate with the headunit for visual feedback.

Meanwhile you can buy sets on Aliexpress that will work with the screen.

If I recall correctly, the CS didn't come with front parking sensors. That button is for the front sensors so it makes sense that it is missing.
