    Hi,

Can dimmer switches blow? The attached switch attached to 5 bulbs in a single arrangement went suddenly. Trip switch is back to normal now and not resetting. Is there something I should replace in the switch?

Better advice on the electrical forum for this one.

I find your post a little difficult to read. Are you saying that the trip switch at the fuse box is working OK or is it still tripped? If tripped, is it snapping back down or is it just limp when you try to reset it?

    Yes they blow.
Sometimes with age, sometimes of overloaded. They have a max rated wattage, exceeding this will shorten its life.

The whole switch can easily be replaced.

If your replacing make sure the total wattage ofntue lights doesn’t exceed the rating on the switch.
