What happens after Probate granted?

In very simple terms, I was left a house in a Will. I was also named as an executor. Last week I attended a meeting in the Probate office where everyting went fine...I then received the High Court, sealed Grant a few days later.

Im just wondering what happens next? Do I send the sealed document and Will to my solicitor to have the title deeds changed into my name? A bit confused now

Yes, exactly what you suggest. You instruct a solicitor to prepare a transfer of the property into your name.

As you are the executor..... are there any other asset transfers involved? Like money sitting in bank accounts? Because you will need to show the Grant of Probate to the banks in order to get them to give you a cheque for the balance in the accounts, you then pay the beneficiaries. Do that before you hand the document to the solicitor. I brought the GoP to each bank and invited them to photocopy it, do not post it to anyone.

The solicitor who effects the transfer of the proprety will probably not return the GoP to you, it will end up as one of the documents in the title deeds so it might be worth considering geting a certified copy of the will from the probate office and giving him that instead. In case you later need the GoP original.
