Apparently they are pretty reliable for Croatian news.

    A very impressive U21 championship

Can apparently play 9, anywhere in CM or as a right winger.

A right winger? What's that? It's been so long since I saw one at United I can barely remember what a dedicated right winger is.

Gomes is now 28 (from 47). Greenwood is no longer 54 but havent seen his new number yet.

I really hope Chong, Gomes, Garner and Greenwood get some decent gametime this year. Should be automatic starters in the Europa League and Carabao IMO.

That's not including Tuanzebe and Henderson (if they stay around) who I think should be in the matchday squad anyway.

Toby Alderweireld is now available for £25,000,000.

Nah, too cheap. Ed Woodward is the type of man who always buys Avonmore milk when he goes to the shop because he's convinced paying the extra 50 cent means it has to be better.

Maybe Alderweireld has told United he’s not interested?

Alderweireld is approaching the latter part of his career. If he's motivated by money he'd move to United but for all footballing reasons he'd have no reason to.

At this stage I would be happy enough with Maguire

It's way too much money but I can't go another season watching Smalling and Jones kick the ball off their own faces and falling over themselves....... Maguire is better than both.

I reckon Alderweireld has said no to us

Given our targets and purchased this year, Alderweild doesn’t seem to fit the philosophy we are aiming for.

Young, home grown. Driven by a desire to see United return to the top, rather than just cash.

Toby is just about to pass his prime. And would be moving from CL finalists to us, which should inidicate his motivations imo.

70m is too much for Maguire. BUT it’s not massively overpaying in the current market. He’s British, PL proven, one of the best defenders in the league, coming from a club who will struggle to replace him, and there’s been s bidding war with us and City.

We paid 50m for AWB, who is less experienced. Paying 70m for Maguire isn’t a massive step up in that context. Ultimately, I’ve never seen much of him so can’t massively comment, but it’s pretty obvious the United scouting department has made him a massive priority.

And he would have to be an improvement on what we have now. So it’s a case of if he’s the one chosen, so be it. Get him in and let’s check that position off the list.

Maguire would be a great signing. he is a Leader and a very good defender, comfortable on the ball, good passer that can play out with the ball, good in the air, and scores goals. He is English and 26, still a good age so i think he would be worth 70m, and would be a big improvement on what we have.

what boils my blood, is we could have gone for him last year, but Ed Woodward wouldnt sanction it. I mean Woodward isnt qualified to make those decisions. Sure we had bought Bailly & Lindelof, but going for him now, shows he was wrong.

Agree with most of this. 70m is a lot of money but I think he’ll improve us. I’d be worried about pace though if partnered with Lindelof.

Have to say, I’m encouraged by the player profile Olè wants. Think it bodes well.

he has some weaknesses. He isnt Cannavaro but all other options arent cheap either.

Koulibaly is 28 but would cost 90-100m.

Issa Diop looks very good, only 22 and improving but again he'd probably cost 50m plus. L'Equipe are saying we are preparing a bid for him this week. So id imagine its either Maguire or Diop

Looks to be true alright, I know the market is madness and it's not our money these days but £70million is outrageous money for Maguire

He's 26 and at relatively the same age as the best defender in the world, Van Dijk when he was signed. Are they as good as one another?

Surely Ndidi would go for similar money and we could get Toby Alderweireld for £25mil?

As head milkman I believe it would be more beneficial if we were to pursue cheaper alternatives Mr Astra Woodward, sir.

As soon as we had been reported to have been ahead of City, our bid was rejected. We’ll have to pay another 10m I reckon, which, if we’re paying 70, we might as well go an extra 10m more. Getting a CB on board is crucial, get it done Woodward

Ah the nostalgia it honestly feels like this time last year we were debating signing Maguire.

I think its crazy that people are giving out about United going for Maguire, who was part of a Leicester defence that beat City at home and kept them scoreless away barring a screamer. Also part of a Leicester defence which held Liverpool to a draw at Anfield. He would be great.

Yes his price is a lot compared to other transfers but that's the market and he would improve our defence tenfold so let's hope we get it done.

Signing maguire for crazy money will happen, regardless of whether or not its us or City or whoever eventually get hm.

Yes, he's not the best defender in the world considering he will most likely go for a world record fee, but he is a hell of a lot better than the majority of people are giving him credit for. There is a reason that Man City, the best team the premier league has possibly ever seen, are trying to sign him also.

He has proven clearly his worth in the Premier league, he is a no brainer for us considering how defensively weak our centre halves (bar Lindelof) are. He also seems like a really humble, down to earth lad which would be a welcome addition in our changing room of self proclaimed superstar/rappers/dancers/designers. We need a signing like him more than any other team do imo.

Sure, we could take a chance on a younger defender with potential but we're still probably looking at spending 50 million even for that, and it's more of a gamble.

I know which option I would prefer anyway.

Maguire for 70 million pound? Is Woodward having a laugh? Harry Maguire? Jokeshop continues. Absolutely clueless.

I don't know why you're all getting upset about the price of Maguire. If the money isn't spend on players it'll just go towards Darcie Glazers new kitchen anyway.
