    Wonder what they'll give Lingard

While,I’d be sorry to see Lukaku go, replacing him with Ben Yedder for half the price looks good business.

We need another striker anyway so should not be reliant on Lukaku going or not.

Unfortunately not a very inspiring transfer again

I think you have unrealistic expectations.

If Lukaku is leaving its because he'll be second choice. Any player brought in as a replacement will be to replace him as second choice. Ben Yedder would be a quality pick up at that price fir that role.

Imo the much bigger issue is right wing, not backup cf.

A striker who can control a football? Ole, you are spoiling us.

The thing is Rashford isnt good enough to be our first choice (yet) and I personally think Lukaku should be number 1 and if he goes and we bring in Yedder it's not going to make much of a difference up front at all.

Of course we need right wing and bigger problem is the CB position as well.

Yedders a very capable player, could do very well in Ole's system.

I don't think we will be going near the right wing this transfer window...

CB and one CM will be it...

I'd be surprised if we get a CB to be honest. I don't think we had any alternatives to Koulibaly, Maguire or De Ligt so I think we'll stick with what we have.

One CM and thats it I reckon. Seems more likely to be Longstaff than Fernandes aswell.

Criminal if we go into A new season yet again with no recognised RW and CB

Definitely no RW but clearly we have to get CB.

Whatever about what you think, what do you think ole's opinion and plan are?

Hope the rumours regarding Ben Yedder are true.

Would be a great addition and at the price available. Very few strikers who have come off a 30 goal season, scoring against the likes of Real, Barcelona and Atletico would be nabbed for his price.

Handy player, with a good touch, lovely control on the dribble and a nose for goal. Not to mention can come up with some great finishes.

Think he'd be good for Rashford too, try help him regards to taking your chances.

Chong at RW and oh I don't know.. let's say Phil Jones at CB.

    Problem solved.

I’d be doubtful we will go for a RW at this stage tbh. At a guess, we want Sancho and so will wait till next summer to try again. I wouldn’t be shocked if we took the punt on Bale for a year loan if possible, but other than that, I’d say it will be a “make do” scenario; see if James or Dalot can play there for the season, rotating with Lingard and Mata as we’ve seen in the past. Maybe even, god help us, Young too.

That, and we could see weird diamond teams. Like...
    Rashford - Yedder
    Fernandes
    Pogba - McT
    Longstaff

Which would be malleable in game, and could often play as....
    Yedder
    Raahford————-Fernandes
    Pogba - McT
    longstaff

...when width is needed. Would also be aided by bringing in AWB as a proper RB.

What an absolute travesty of a sentence for a club like Manchester United.

The sad/scary part is you're right, this is what will happen.

    From the rashford article..

"The contract is heavily incentivised but if Rashford meets his performance related targets"

I reckon we will sign both, longstaff to challenge Matic and Fernandes can play a number of roles, he can play as an 8, 10 or a RW

Probably makes the problem worse tbh.

Talk of McGinn from Villa for 50 million ,
He was decent in the Championshio but sounds a bit to crazy to be true

What’s the deal with Dalot being told he can move on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Spurs looking like signing Ndombele for up to €72m

Suppose that's one of the 73 players we have been linked with now gone........ List down to 72 now

Journalist writing a very simple “new RB signed, back up RB told to go” story. I’d guess utter nonsense.

I doubt we are that competent to manage that much deals.

Evening Standard said Dalot could leave.

Evening Standard have since replaced Dalot with Darmian in the piece.

I guess they do sound kind of alike.

A plan I disagree with is still better than no plan, I guess, so at least we are moving the right direction :pac:

So was thinking about how the summer is going and just an overview for myself.

    Additions: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James
Possible further purchases: Longstaff, Ben Yedder, Bruno Fernandes

Promoted players: Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes, Tuanzebe, Greenwood

Obviously other players linked but the possible ones seem most likely. Also what happens with departures could affect other signings.

If we got those three signed it would be great and a refreshing style to the window compared to recent times but you do feel we would do with another signing for a player than no questions asked will walk into the team and improve it.

Be interesting how it pans out. Side note, really hope Chong is given chances this season. An exciting prospect.
