I'm always amazed at how albums have aged. I regularly see details of albums released X number of years ago and how they have stood the test of time. So here's a thread for that.

    Starting off with:

26 years ago today (July 20, 1993), "Black Sunday" was the second studio album released by Cypress Hill.

    64819789_1129951263863864_6974960771977445376_n.jpg?_nc_cat=106&_nc_ht=scontent-dub4-1.xx&oh=07ebd7f53a3f450d4864e813ed9fe825&oe=5D8E9385
    This album went triple platinum.

At the time I refused to listen to this album because the metallers, the goths, the hippies were all listening to it. But listening to it now, I was an idiot, such a cracker of an album from start to finish. Muggs was on fire for this album

25 years ago (June 21, 1994), The Beatnuts: Street Level was released. What a f*cking album. I was late to the party on it, I think I picked it up after the Stone Crazy album.

This is a good idea for a thread. I'll be back to contribute later

22 Year ago today, Craig Macks second album was released, it was called Operation Lockdown. not the greatest of albums, only had about 2 or 3 decent songs on it.

Mack originally wanted to make more soulful clean cut songs but Puffy convinced him for his first album to get a more street sound. He had the freedom to do it on the second album and it didn't pay off.

27 years ago (23rd June 1992) Dont Sweat The Technique from Eric B & Rakim was released. It was their 4th studio album.
I still love this album back to front, start to finish.

23 years ago today was the start of a little run of albums for a lad called Jay-Z. It all started with Reasonable Doubt.
Still his best album by miles, it really captured the time and place with a twist on the bragadocio and some stellar beats.

31 Years ago today (June 28, 1988), Big Daddy Kane announced his arrival with his debut album Long Live The Kane.

What an absolute belter of an album.

Also 31 years ago today, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back by Public Enemy was released. I'd say that there are some songs off this that people know but have never listened to PE before because of the cross over success and soundbites from the album in pop culture.

Da Brat released her debut album, Funkdafied, 25 years ago today (1994)
Absolute corker of an album, production is ridiculous.

I remember getting a copy of it on tape when it came out, easily in my top 3 albums of all time.Like any great album your initial thought is, i've never heard anything like this.

Tragedy Khadefi - Intelligent Hoodlum turned 29 years old last week.
This is a classic to some, unknown to others, but to me, it never really had an impact.

28 years ago today, Breaking Atoms by Main Source was released. It probably sounds better now than it did back then, excellent album that has improved over time somehow.

Here's a review of Breakin Atoms from The Source

Interestingly, it doesn't highlight Nas' verse from Live at the BBQ.

Here's one that has made me think that I'm old. On the 22nd July 1997, Puff Daddy released No Way Out....22 years ago!

    65637210_2127520504025646_5145592251941912576_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&_nc_oc=AQnbZMkIB5Vj1VOlyCWxQNToQM_SUdxV5q4yNAvTOVu7aT3OrdIjlxVGNNqkC62lU0E&_nc_ht=scontent-lhr3-1.xx&oh=262dcdad2291a0930920b21f4b6c4701&oe=5DADA910
There are some classic songs on this, and it did pave the way for the sound of music from New York at that time.

Also released 22 years ago is one of my favorite albums of all time.
    Company Flow - Funcrusher Plus

I couldn't find this in any record shops in Ireland when released and picked up a copy in HMV in Liverpool while over there for a weekend.

Groundbreaking album in so many ways. In terms of sound and style and content. Also, in terms of the Rawkus movement.

I always thought the album was called Fine Malt Lyrics :)

A Tribe Called Quest - Beats Rhymes and Life is 23 years old today, released in 1996.

This wasn't a fan favorite, but I loved and still love this album dearly. There was a bunch of confusion about Consequence and if he was a new member or not...and who was The Ummah, I think that's where we started seeing that name on production credits.

22 years ago yesterday, Killarmy's Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars album was released.
    Love this album.
I recall as a youth seeing this first advertised in a magazine and it had a Wu logo on it, but it wasn't the Wu. I bought it when I seen in it in a record shop after that.
The first listen was a bit mad, because I had no idea who any of them where, then 9th Prince started to stand out. I had no idea what to expect.
I still listen to the album a couple of times a year now
