The front 3 scored 160 goals and had 67 assists between them in the last two seasons that is just nuts.

    That is incredible tbh.

Which is why Klopp wouldn't go back in for him, he's not his type of player.

That's very interesting about the heart and lungs not being up to the recovery required for the transitions compared to the other players.

Makes me wonder if the Fekir medical wasn't just simply his knee might blow up, but also concerns around his ability to continually transition. I presume the medical is the first time you get real data on the rates you're looking for in the heart and lungs.

Wow 93 assists for Robbo and TAA.

Delighted to see Mane get the credit he deserves in this thread.

Of our front 3 he’s be the hardest to replace.

I’ve been slightly concerned that he doesn’t feel the love, from the fans, in the same way Salah does.

Also concerned that I never really see him and Salah celebrate together, on the pitch, like other players do.

I think it’s fair to say that Salah has shown that he can be too selfish in front of goal. There’s been a few times Mane has been, rightly, pissed off that Salah has gone it alone. It needs to stop.

Mane is class and feels irreplaceable whereas I don’t think we’d struggle as much to replace Salah.

I’m already fearing the day Mane (or Bobby) leaves.

I dunno are people under rating Salah here, in both seasons he leads the other 2 on goals and assists. Mane is partial to a shot when he could pass it also. I think they are both greedy in a good sense.

I've no idea how true it is it's from the same guy who wrote that book about Mourinhos time at Madrid who said he should write more fantasy.

Shearer sounds genuinely delighted for Liverpool....I'm shocked.

Seems strange listening to that coverage now. I was so despondent going into the second leg...the cloud of finishing the season empty handed hanging over my head. Even when we went 1-0 up I was watching it through a glass half empty viewpoint. I think when half-time came and we had weathered the storm just before, I actually thought - this is on. I hit record on the sky+ box just in case and grabbed a beer. The rest is history.

The noise in that stadium is unbelievable. Everybody there believed we could do it. These things just don't happen. Amazing

The belief was there after the first goal. Before the game it was pretty muted and there was good atmosphere around kick off just to give it a lash and have a go at Coutinho. Once the goal went it it just went mental.

    Phenomenal atmosphere. What a game

Ah I still love Suarez, personifies every player's worst nightmare in opposition to him. For years he was wearing our shirt while inspiring that terror.

His sh1thousing over the two legs this year didn't bother me at all mainly because I fully expected it from him. It surprised me how many fellow Pool fans were raging about him.

If you can't listen to it all, from 1.38 approx is where TAA has the temerity to play that corner in... Magical! As someone else says, Shearer is ecstatic.

    Im not.

We are a very likable team not matter what Man Utd,Evertin & City fans like to say.

We dont surround referee's or play act ,players don't sing about other clubs,no media games from our manager,no oil money.

Listen to Shearer on MotD talking about the team throughout the season and you'll see a person quite determined not to give the team their due.

The crowd singing at the end is unreal, too! Fantastic commentary too from both Shearer and the other chap.

For me mo is still the best forward we have, I really hope we have all 3 for many more seasons to come

I dont think the three forwards would be anywhere near what they are now without Klopp and really believe with maybe the exception of Mane, that whoever we get in those positions would do just as well. Look at Origi, I never had faith he was a good striker, how wrong was I - but I believe its down to Klopp and the system moreso than the players - Yes our three up front are very talented. but in any other team I dont believe they would stand out as much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

I like Origi but he is never reaching Firmino or Salah's level. Nowhere near tbh.
Origi is a great bench player to have but he is very hit and miss. CL final showed that brillant finish but he was actually very poor apart from that.

Be interesting how Brewster will do. Hudson Odoi & Foden both done well last season & Brewster in the 2017 was regarded as highly as them.

Team yes. Fans and club not so much. Its not just city, everton and utd fans btw.

Shearer surprisingly good on co-comms, much better than his 'say what you see' school of punditry.

He noticed that Barca were less than attentive during corners long before that moment confirmed it.

edit - we're in for Ziyech (no we're not)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,493 ✭✭✭mosstin

No, actually we're in for Mbappé and we're offloading either Salah or Mané to help fund it.

Every now and again I'll go on youtube and bask in some of the recent celebrations again, but what really stands out to me is the congratulations to Becker, Fab and Firmino from their Brazilian team-mates when they hooked up for the Copa America.

Yes, we saw the Dutch squad congratulate VVD and Gini, but in a way you almost expect that since they're European and know exactly what it meant. For the Brazilian lads to do it just shows how far-reaching an achievement it is and how massive it is for the club and a great opportunity for the club to build from.

Winning that game was absolutely massive and a real sliding-doors moment.
