So its a jumbo jet of some sort. Being specific, could it be air force one? Of course that is just a call signal, not realy the name of a thing.

Have we ruled out space shuttles?

Are there any missiles with that range (though it might be a bit far fetched to say it transports a warhead)

    could be AF1
space shuttle not ruled out by my reckoning.

intercontinental ballistic missiles are not rule out yet.

    Question,

Was it manufactured by either Boeing or Airbus?

    lol at lack of spacebar.

marine1 only seems to have a range of 350miles, (563 km's). range is

max distance from take off to landing.

    max altitude may help here.

60000 feet max altitude for airliners (concorde, already ruled out twice).
70000 feet max for hot air balloon.

above is space reachers or orbiting objects.

Mind if i get involved? :)

I am thinking it may be some type of military aircraft.
Or else some type of long range business Jet there are a number of such manufactured by bombardier and gulfstream. I dont believe there are many others manufacturing small jets with more than 8000km range.

If the latter we could probably determine by passenger numbers?
Or else we could ask about the number of engines. Most business jets have 2 engines. So a question like does it have more than 2.5 engines.

Is/was it a commercial aircraft (including business jets)?

As distinguished from military aircraft or space shuttles.

I'll give ya a clue - if you list off all the big planes you know, youd probabaly get it quick enough.

Sorry i missed the 3 or 4 engines answer.

Ok question withdrawn due to my lack of reading all the answers. :D

So the comet, B52, and U2 ruled out.

    Could be the Tupolev tu-95

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,404 ✭✭✭✭sKeith

In 3 engines, the dc10-30's have the range and some are used by fed ex but that would be commercial. the kc10 extender could extend other aircraft's ranges, but it itself doesn't qualify due to range.

    back to the clue.

"Everybody has heard of the answer."

    spruce goose, 8 engines
    enola gay, boeing
    memphis bell, boeing

vms eve, white knight 2, range 200 miles

This is baffling me. I wouldn't have said the everybody would have heard of a tupolov tu-95 for instance.
