I think it was a penalty, his arm was raised, in an unnatural position, the ball hit his arm blocking its progress. You have to say even if he was gesturing to a colleague, I’d happily have a penalty given against any thîck fûck for doing that with the ball and opposition yards away from him, in the second minute of a Champions League Final... like his colleague would even have had a chance to react to his arm waving let alone understand him.

Stonewall penalty. Insanity to have his arm up in the air like that in the box.

    Learn to play

He has to deliberately stick out his arm to handle the ball for it to be a penalty. He doesn't. He is pointing to a teammate to cover. Ball hitting outstretched arm doesn't mean penalty, simple as. He has to INTENTIONALLY gain an advantage.

    Definitely wrong decision.

If that was given against Liverpool then we would never hear the end of it. Terrible stuff and the game is already ruined.

You could clearly see the ref was talking to the TMO, the official told him what happened. Penalty.

    This too shall pass.

It had 24 seconds at least.

Thankfully expectations were low but that is still hilarious.

No way was that a pen. Shocked that VAR got it wrong as well.

If the ball bounces off your chest and on to your arm, how in the world can it be a penalty???

    Beggars belief

If we go on to win game, the gloss will be taken off it by that penalty.

You may have gotten away with that a few years ago but not now. His arm was elevated and the ball traveled a good distance before it hit his arm. That's a penalty.

    ?

A good distance from his chest to his arm? Are we counting centimetres as a "good distance now".

    Cringe.

    Hardly

In determining whether or not a player deliberately handled the ball, the referee has several considerations:

Movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)

Distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)

Position of the hand ('natural' position versus 'unnatural' position) does not necessarily mean that there is an infringement

Liverpool are a bit one dimensional with their gegenhööfball

Is anyone really surprised? Salah almost broke the Porto player Danilo's leg and VAR didn't intervene and Salah didn't get so much as a booking. No way they were overturning the call tonight.

Yes. It is a travesty of justice. Spurs can claim the high moral ground now.

    Goal changed everything.

Spurs will go all out. Likely be countered late in the game.

Big impacted there. It happens. I'm just baffled they allowed it without the ref even looking at VAR.

By the rules it’s a penalty, as would be raising your arms to protect yourself.

The ref did not check VAR. He checked with the people viewing VAR I believe. He didn't look at it himself.

Moot given that the ball hit his chest

He had his arm held high and brought it down as the ball was knocked towards him. You can't move your arm in the direction of the ball have the ball touch it and expect it to not be a penalty

I don't think there is a conspiracy, it's just bad refereeing.

Years since I've seen a streaker like that. Given the price of those tickets, I hope she's getting well paid for that.

Which is checking VAR. He didn't conduct an on field review.
