Amber jewellery for babies

Hi friends: does anyone know where I can buy one of those little amber necklaces or anklets for babies?

I have to get one as a gift, at short notice, this weekend: so a retail shop in Dublin is what I need, not mail order (need it by Wed. and it's a Bank Holiday weekend)

I found a couple of websites but not an actual address that I could buy from.

Oddly, I would think that was a terrible idea: I wouldn't give a kid cyanide or a loaded gun.

I was really trying to avoid a discussion of the desirability of this item: it was just a plain ordinary question.
(Somebody wants one: lots of people have them: millions of babies wear them: they can be bought)

Maybe try Lotus Pagoda in the Ilac Centre. It's kind of a spiritual shop that stocks incense and stones and lights etc, not sure if I've seen amber jewellery there but it might be worth ringing them to ask.

Hmm, I didnt know about this. Would apply to ALL jewellery, of course, not just amber.

Advice on where to get this really shouldn't be asked or given. as its considered extremely dangerous, and not scientifically proven to have any effect.

Yes, absolutely. Any jewelry for a baby is dangerous. Choking or strangulation etc. those amber ones are marketed at an infant market, hence the ban.

There's no doubt about it, it's a choking and strangulation hazard around a baby's neck. Or as a bracelet the string can get caught, break and baby could swallow the beads. And the claims that it works is very much just claims. Anklet seems to be the least dangerous of them I suppose.

Disclaimer - I had an amber necklace for my son for a while- teething was awful for him so you are sleep deprived and will try anything if you think it helps give them comfort. I had it under a sock under a babygro around his ankle because even if it was proven to work I still wouldn't have been comfortable with it around his neck. And as soon as he was dexterous enough to pull off a sock, I didn't dare put it on him any more.

Doing it over again, I don't think I would bother with one.
