TV for new build?

    Hi,

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, or if this question has been asked a million times. I'm considering a new build PC to replace my trusty Alienware laptop which has served me well for about 8/9 years (mods, this is why I've placed the thread here, in anticipation of another requesting help/advice for the build - please move if necessary).

The intention is that the PC will be in a room of my house with the PS and other such devices. My question is this: having hooked the tv up to my laptop before to play games etc, I notice that windows and any apps opened such as MS word or other are much smaller on the TV. This is a concern as I'd like to be able to use it to work from home as well as game on it, but I'm not sure that's feasible.

I should state that the max settings on my laptop were not 1920 x 1080 or whatever the HD resolution is, but rather 1600 x 900 and I'm hoping that this led to the icons appearing to fit the tv screen rather than look like they would on a monitor.

I hope the above makes sense - any advice would be welcome!
