    Hi

I have been with a company for about 2 years as a fixed term contract worker. My contract is expiring at the end of July. I am expecting to travel a bit in September - October. Is it possible for me sign on once my contract ends and receive benefit as long as I am in the country?

Jobseeker’s Allowance and Jobseeker’s Benefit are payments for people who are unemployed and looking for work...
    ...You must also be:
Unemployed (you must be fully unemployed or unemployed for at least 4 days out of 7)
    Capable of work
    Available for work
    Genuinely seeking work

While you are getting a jobseeker’s payment you must attend meetings and take part in appropriate employment schemes, training or work experience if requested by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP). See ‘Sanctions for not meeting the conditions of your jobseeker’s payment’ below.

    Holidays and social welfare payments
In general you can take up to 2 weeks holidays each year and have your social welfare payment paid. However you must always contact your local Intreo Centre, Social Welfare Branch Office or your Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP) representative (formerly known as the Community Welfare Officer) to check your entitlements before planning or taking holidays. If you plan to take longer holidays or to be abroad for an extended period your social welfare payment may not be paid.

If you only work less than 4 days a week you can go on x and o's . But if you take more than 2 weeks holidays they will prob.close your claim . Good luck hope all works out.
