It still compounds the generally mixed reaction to the final season though and keeps the polarized opinion at the forefront of discussion.

Besides, what are the odds that even if they ever addressed it, Benioff & Weiss would deflect by disingenuously saying "Oh, we knew some people wouldn't like where we took the story", despite the issue being with their writing rather than the actual plot itself.

Be fair enough if they just said "Look, we did our best, we can't please everyone" or some variation on that.

Bottom line I think, is that despite our varying opinions on how shoddy the writing is or isn't, it's gonna be watched anyway.
It'll be watched with a mix of can they undo the ****e of the last few episodes, can they make it even worse, can they stay consistent etc

Okay, you liked the episode. You don't have to wear it like a flag. Most people think the writing was garbage. I was trying to highlight how a single relatively unimportant subplot of that episode featuring Arya and the Hound was completely pointless, like most of the series has proven to be.

Arya was placed in that location just so that we could be concerned about a character groaning under their plot armour being potentially killed by Danerys during the genocide, which she started, because of a bell. The Hound was there because he wanted to get the title belt from the Cleganebowl reigning champion. You liked all that, that's fine. It's a free country.
I was surprised by how much screen time they gave to Arya in KL. It would have made more sense if they showed the same type of scene ie trying to escape and finding fire and death everywhere, if they were following Jon. We got a few close ups of him being appalled at Dany and the armies at the start but that was it.

There's a really interesting edit someone made on Reddit which edits E04 and E05 together to make Rhaegal fall victim to Scorpions during the Battle of Kings Landing, prompting Daenaerys rage and immediate beeline for the Red Keep and Cersei. It's actually pretty cool.

Just mentioning it as a lot of people have discussed similar possibilities.

    Can see it here.
In the Star Wars fandom, there's an almost legendary re-edit of the prequels that Topher Grace who's a huge fan of the series made. It cut the three films into an 85 minute long movie and is reputed to be far, far superior to it's source material. Sadly it can't be released due to copyright issues.

With the amount of short re-edits of scenes from Season 8 coming out on Reddit I'll be very, very surprised if some budding film editor doesn't end up fixing most of the problems with a clever re-edit and releasing it via torrent. If I'm honest, I'm really hoping this happens. It'll be even more likely if any deleted scenes appear on the bluray release.

I believe even if they wrote everything to perfection, there would be still a sizeable population who wouldn't have liked where the story ended. For example, I know some here have said they would have liked the Dany turn if it was written better but there is a group in those who are complaining about this season that were never going to like or accept that turn from her, no matter what they did.

Rhaegar - wtf? She hated her brother also he died way back? Do you mean Rhaegal?
Rhaegar was her oldest brother who got Lyanna pregnant which started this whole mess and then was killed by Robert at the Trident. Viserys was the gobsh!te who was given a golden crown by Drogo.

    Obviously the petition is ridiculous.
But heard on a GOT podcast today that some crowd on reddit bombed google somehow with ‘bad writing’ and made it so Benioff and weiss’ pictures/ names were the first suggestion.

So if these people are really that pathetic it’s safe to assume they’re swarming that petition to boost the numbers.
    An utter waste of time.

And the rest is a load of stuff you made up and typed out trying to be funny. At least it sounded funny in your head, and you got a dig in at the writers. That'll show 'em.

You know the bolded piece how?

As for the subplot being pointless... How? Surely it meant Arya didn't die by continuing with the Hound to intercept Cersei and her posse? So the Hound saved Arya from dieing and Arya left the Hound to die again like she told him she would. Arya also ended up hating Danaerys due to what she witnessed in the streets of KL.

I’ve been away and haven’t been able to keep up with this thread. Has anyone been able to answer how Jaime got to the secret beach front entrance to the castle from within the city?

He didn’t seem to know it’s existence before Tyrion told him about it, so surely if he could find it from within the city it would have been found by many nosey Kings Landing folk.

That would be Liam Cunningham's doing as a magical smuggler and a magician never reveals his secrets!

No, the sea accidentally washed him up there at just the right time.

I think they know. I'm with the one leg out the door school of thinking.

Well only one episode to go - wonder if all those that have signed the petition watch it? Methinks they will be glued to it. :D

Isn't that the route Arya escapes from the castle in season 1?

We also see last season that guards patrol the area and question people when they're found so presumably it is supposed to be a no go area for common folk.

Unless you're in a complete strop about it, after living with it for so long, you will watch.

He possibly knew about that entrance since he had been living with Cersei for a while and swam towards it. I'm serious. It would make sense.

Sure a big chunk of them probably don't even watch it legally but they're still owed by the writers
