Towing with an automatic X Trail

Hi folks, my Avensis packed in after 380k miles :-( Anyway my wife has a 2015 Nissan X Trail automatic, 1.6lt diesel which we're thinking of putting a towbar on. What is an automatic like to tow? What are the pros and cons?

The towing capacity of a 1.6dci Xtronic is only 1500 Kg.
