Barca were clinical enough tonight. Liverpool were poor in the final third.
Best team won but Liverpool only have themselves to blame. They should have an away goal with all the possession they had in and around Barca's box.

I would see the score being something like 3-1 next week. Moral victories and all that stuff.

Some misses in this game including the two late counter attacks from Barcelon, could easily have been 5-2

    I'd have taken that.

I didn't expect him to get close with the FK. It should have been too far out but he couldn't have placed it any better.

Let's be honest, Messi was average for 70mins and then came alive and should have resulted in another goal or two.

All to do for Pool now, have to go all out and press hard and high. They done that well but they need to be clinical next week.

Barca have the league wrapped up so they'll make 11 changes for the weekend.

How was Mane not sent off? I thought if you raise your hands to an opponent's face it's an automatic red? VAR doesn't flag that up?

Scoreline looked flattering after the free but by the end it didn't feel that way as Barca really should have put it to bed. Dembele very poor with his finishing. Wonder if that will come back to haunt them as Roma managed a 3-0 home win against them last season let's remember. You'd have to fancy Barca to see it through but I wouldn't say it's completely finished as it stands.

    Retrospective action surely?

They weren't. They first half was pretty even. Then they were on top for the first 15 - 20 mins of the second half until the second went in. That was the total of their toothless dominance.

Liverpool have a fountain to climb now.

    I hope you're a comedian, because that's a great joke.

Barca were reduced to long balls. At the start of the second half they couldn’t get out. They barely had a chance. Mane and Milner had really good chances. I hate Liverpool but you weren’t watching the game if you couldn’t see they looked better for 75 mins.

The Nou Camp hasn't seen too many away teams press as hard and as high as Liverpool did tonight. And it worked for so long, until the 75th minute. They had loads of possession and territory. I wouldn't go as far as to say they were the better team, but there was nothing between them.

What was different between them was the quality in the final third. For all their good work, Liverpool didn't create many chances at all in that time. One for Mane, one for Milner. I thought Salah and Mane were poor, and Firmino was anonymous when he came on.

Amazing pass for the first goal. 2nd is lucky, but the delicate pass into the box was incredible. 3rd is as good as free-kick as you'll ever see. Now way they deserved to be 3-0 up after 80 minutes or whatever it was, but considering the fluffed chances right at the end, it could have been more.

Salah's miss was crucial, as I can't see Barca not scoring in Anfield, so it's all over really.

Seeing the replay of the free kick it looks like Gomez turned his head away from the ball when he might have gotten something on it. Not the most valiant decision. If Liverpool could have even kept it at 2-0 they might have been in with a shout in the return leg.

Would the PFA still award VVD with the award after tonight's showing? Similar to what happened when United gave Ole the job.

    Major question marks

Thought Gomez could've stuck his face towards Messi's free kick instead of away from it, might have got something on it.

Just saw Salah's miss. Oh dear.

Fair point. It was an even game overall, but the GOAT took control at the vital moments. So yeah, from that point of view Barca deserved it. And they are the fine margins.

Ah stop. He’s a colossal player. Not great tonight but I’d love him at Spurs and very few supporters of other teams wouldn’t want him in their team.

Hahaha give over. Losing 3-0 to a Barcelona side containing the best player to ever kick a ball isn't really up there with losing 4-0 to Everton,

Klopp lost the plot at the end. Barca should have had another 1 or 2.

Messi is simply ridiculous. He made a huge difference. We needed a goal to keep the tie alive but at 2-0 we couldn't get back into it. Before the second goal we were doing OK just couldn't get that goal.

    Mauled by a superior team

Thought Pique and Lenglet were very good. The former had a few shaky moments in the first half but both stepped up when it counted. If they add De Ligt in the summer they'll have some superb options at the back, even if Umtiti moves on.

When people look back on this game in years to come , all that's going to be remembered for is the scoreline , the chances that were taken, not the ones that weren't.

They've a mountain to climb in the second leg . They will score 2 or 3 but Barca will also score to decide the match.

Klopp just speaking there and I'd agree with him. Liverpool the better side after going 1-0 down, couldn't get the goal they needed, concede a real fluke for the second and then there's no stopping the third.

He has a fairly strange view on the game to be honest.

The only fluke is it was only 3-0

Wouldn't agree with that at all. Liverpool were equally as good as Barcelona, but Messi was Messi.

Don’t get me wrong, Barca are as good as through. Liverpool have to go for it and leaving Barca space will result in Messi and Suarez destroying them.

Had their big players (Mane, VVD, Salah and Robertson) been at their best tonight, they’d be in the tie. As it is, they’re out.

The other scary thing for them is that they won’t be this good next season. And the likelihood is they’ll finish up the season with nothing. That’s a huge psychological blow.

Think you're letting your United goggles colour things a bit there in fairness.

anyone who thinks Ronaldo is better than Messi is just not being objective.

    Best player ever easily.

    Sums it up pretty well.

Barca had a couple chances towards the end but only because Liverpool had to push everyone forward looking for the away goal.

Think Messi has 2 goals in 10 games against Chelsea.
